Chapter 7: The Smith's Family

Maddison runs through the hallways of her father's mansion to get to the Dining room where he is having his breakfast along with the rest of her family.

"Daddy! Did you read the newspaper and magazines?" Maddison asks.

Rolling his eyes, he says, "Maddie, whatever you did again, I will have our attorney's fix it as always."

"No daddy, it is not me, it's Roman. He is married," she says throwing her hands in the air.

"And your problem is?" He asks her with an eyebrow raise.

"My problem is that out of all the women in the world, he married Mercedes," she replies as she throws the papers to him.

"What?" he shouts as he grabs the paper and reads it.

"No way Mercedes is married to Roman. This has to be some kind of joke, right father?" Joey asks his father.

Huffing, Maddison says, "I can assure you that this is no joke because everyone who is associated with the Rossi family was there. Also, there were people who knew Mercedes because she is Benz, the international rap artist."

"Did I also mention she is trending in the fashion world because Clarissa had a close friend who is also a jewelry maker, made her wear the world's most expensive blue diamond that is going on the runway this winter. This was supposed to be me and now she has what I wanted, I have been robbed whiles my nobody of a sister gets everything," she finishes with a cry.

Laughing her brother, Kevin says, "I can assure you, sister, that Benz is very much not a nobody because she has stocks in the Rossi company. She also has connections with prominent people and is well known in the community as well as international."

"In other words, while we are hanging on by a thread, she already is where we are supposed to be on her own. So it looks like we are going to have to kiss up to Mercedes to get back to where we were," Kevin says.

Slamming the paper on the table, Mr. Smith says, "That's not going to happen because your whore of a sister ruined her chances and doom us all. She slept around and not only cause the Rossi family and all their connections to shut us out, but she threw away our chances with Tobias Mackelmore as well when her baby came out looking like that drug dealer."

"Now we have to find another way or we will be on the streets, and since my other plan has blown up in my face, I will have to think of something else," Mr. Smith says rubbing his forehead.

"What plan?" Joey asks, but before he can get an answer, a man dressed in an Armani suit walks in with bodyguards behind him.

Walking around the table, the man stands next to Mr. Smith and looks at him with a serious look on his face as he begins to speak.

"Mr. Smith, it infuriates me when the other person does not live up to their end of the bargain. Your daughter Mercedes and I supposed to get married to clear up your debts to me but instead, I read in the newspaper that she is married to my enemy, " he growls out.

Rubbing his neck while laughing, Mr. Smith says, "Well! I did not exactly know my daughter was getting married and I can assure you I am not trying to swindle you. Lets put a new deal on the table, how about you marry my daughter Maddison?"

Scoffing, the man says, "I should kill you right now because there is no way in hell you are giving me that as a replacement. The girl who slept with all the rich men but her little boy turns out to be a lowly drug dealer child. 

"How dare you? As you should know, I did not know he was a drug dealer until Tate revealed who he was. He acted like he was wealthy and..." Maddison says but is cut off by the man.

"And you just had to sink your money-hungry claws into him because you thought he was something he was absolutely not. It's pathetic that you talk about your sister Mercedes, but the truth is, she is a thousand times better than you because she is not a whore," the man says to Maddison as he walks closer.

"I think you need to reconsider your words and get the hell out of my sister's face Mr. Whatever your name is or you will have me as your worst enemy," Kevin says as he stands in front of the man.

"KEVIN!" Mr. Smith shouts to tell him to stand down but is interrupted when the man holds up his hand implying him to shut up.

"I am afraid we haven't been formally introduced, my name is Alvin Rutherford."

Kevin's face turns ghostly pale as he backs away from Mr. Rutherford. He turns to his father and asks, "Dad, why did you go into a deal with the devil?"

"Even if there are complications with our agreement, I still want what I want. And that is Mercedes. So get her to divorce Roman just like how you got her to do everything else in her life when she was younger," Mr. Rutherford says as he walks out.

"Daddy, who is that guy, doesn't he know you can destroy him? Maddison asks.

"It's more like the other way around Maddie, he can destroy dad. And by destroy, I mean to kill him and erase any trace of his existence," says Kevin.

"Who the hell is he?" asks Joey.

"Someone known as the reaper in the underworld," replies Kevin.

Walking back and forth, Maddison starts becoming hysterical while her brother Joey tries to calm her down.

"What are you going to do now father? Because I can assure you that there is no way in hell Mercedes is going to show up after we disowned her," Kevin asks.

Smiling in an evil way, Mr. Smith says, "No, but she will come if she knows her mother is in trouble."
