The odor of beer filled Katsuki's nose as he walked into the karaoke bar.

It was filled to the brim with guys and girls of his age, having a drink and a laugh. The dark room was damp and felt heavy when he walked in.
The student wasn't here for fun, in fact, he was kinda pissed off.

His - female - classmates had told him they'd be back within the hour but the digits on his watch had said something else. Katsuki liked to go to sleep at 8 PM, he thought it was responsible and a part of growing up. The missing girls had seemingly thought he'd be in his bed right now, not in the karaoke bar in sweatpants to search for them.
Of course, the young man felt like this should have been a job for his more serious classmate, Tenya, but he had left the dorms to visit his brother.
A few youngsters watched the ash-blonde in a drunken haze and especially at his unusual choice of pants for a night out.

"How could they spend over three hours in this fucking swamp?" he mumbled to himself.
He wouldn't have cared as much if only Mina or Tsuyu had gone out, he has confidence in those two. But Y/n?

No.

He had grown quite fond of the girl, they haven't known each other for that long but since the beginning of classes, they seemed to attract the same things.
Katsuki seeks thrills and chaos, yet Y/n always seems to stumble upon it.
Maybe this was what worried the ash-blonde so much.

It made him upset that she didn't seem to care that much about the status and requirements needed to become a pro hero. It made him upset in a selfish way as if he dreaded the day where he had to become a hero without her. Yes, he still had friends like Eijirou and - although he wouldn't admit it - Izuku. His skin just felt more comfortable whenever Y/n was around him. Katsuki would gladly ignore his bedtime for her.

Y/n is not the best handler of alcohol, she would never admit this herself, but the truth had to be known. The stage was empty, except for a microphone drooping from its mic stand and a duct-taped plastic chair that has seen better days.

"At least, she's not up there." he thought with a glint of relief.
"But she's not anywhere in the crowd... Where could she have gone?"

His fingers tapped in the ten numbers as if he was playing a tune. Katsuki doesn't bother to look up her name on his cellphone anymore, he knows her numbers by heart.
It went straight to voice mail.
Katsuki started tapping with his foot, impatiently and worried, like a rabbit calling its partner.

Y/n reminded him of a rabbit, actually, one he kept when he was 8 years old. The creature had been light brown and used to bite his fingers and escape his wooden cage in the garden, close to the bike shed, only to return in the evening. Katsuki has always told himself the animal simply loved him too much to ever leave him behind but he knows the bunny was just hungry and Katsuki had been its last resort. Ever so often when Y/n decides to leave him, he can't think of anything else to do other than to wait for her return, hoping she would be reminded of his affection and deeply profounded worry for her. But tonight she had been gone out too long. Maybe she actually left. Maybe she found a better home or better carrots.

He didn't see or treat his classmate as an animal who acts on primal urges, but his fondness for her was the same.
It must've been pure luck, but a girl with a familiar brown bob had caught his attention.
Uraraka and the other girls come out of the bathroom, giggling.

Girls always flock together to go to the bathroom when only one of them has to use it. Maybe it has something to do with emotional support but Katsuki just couldn't imagine that. Probably because imagining his female classmates in a bathroom stall together wasn't exactly his favorite thought of the day.
He pushed his way through the crowd, all the while keeping his ardent and determined eyes on the drunken girls. When he went up to Uraraka he saw that Y/n wasn't there, his concern grew as fast as a beanstalk.
