The fresh factory smell of the new manuals and notebooks makes Y/n feel excited and relaxed as she prepares her bag. However, she can't ignore the swirling sensation in her stomach that makes her want to barf.

The first day of school is always the worst day of school. She knows this, but still keeps a forced smile on her face when she walks through the kitchen and reassures her mother that she'll be fine.
Ever since she was a kid, her mother smothered her and usually kept her inside. Especially after she had an accident in the park, her mother was so terrified that she'd kept her inside for a while. Kacchan and his friends had pushed her off of the slide, which caused a bruise and some abrasions on her knees to form. Out of all her siblings, she would be considered the weakest of the bunch and this also makes her the favourite since her mother would never let her out of her sight.

Her mother would often compare Y/n to herself.

She had inherited her quirk and most of her facial features. Whenever Y/n used her quirk 'Origami' she could make paper manifest out of her epidermis, in all shapes and sizes. If she excessively used it, it would make her skin itch, flake and sometimes bleed, leaving scars afterwards. Her mother was en is still very controlling, inspecting her skin every night, making sure she would never 'crack her porcelain skin'.

When Y/n told her mother she was accepted into UA, she turned white and didn't speak to her in days, which made Y/n feel like a disappointment.
Whatever she did, it was never enough.

Her first year at UA went surprisingly well because when she she was playing around with her quirk on the first day, people noticed and asked how she could make a paper flower come out of her skin. Out of shock and happiness, she gladly told all of them about her power. But afterwards, they were all asking her if she could make them an origami figure. She did so, and even made them float or wiggle their tail, which was also an extension of her quirk.

At first period, she got seated next to a timid boy with green hair, who was scribbling eagerly in his notebook, so she chose not to strike up a conversation and focus on her hands and arms, which were itching and looked inflamed. Even though she had to endure the pain and tried her best not to show it, she was filled with bliss. Her quirk actually made people happy and made people like her. Unlike her mother, who only got upset whenever she showed or mentioned it.

Y/n had been clawing at her skin so acutely that it had begun to bleed. She'd silently cursed herself and had put her hand on top of it to stop the bleeding as she focused on the chalkboard.

"Hey, ar-are you okay? You're bleeding."

Her head cocked to the side and her eyes met worried green ones.
"Uh, yeah, yeah. I'm fine," she said and faked a smile. She had gotten good at that.

"Are you sure? We can go to the nurse's office if you want to."

She was going to refuse when a drop of blood fell on her thigh.

"Okay, yeah, I-I think it's bad," she said in a fearful voice.

The boy, who said his name was Midoriya, led her to the nurse's office and she got treated. It wasn't anything she couldn't handle, since she had overused her quirk at the entrance exam as well. But this time, she overused it in a short span of time, which made everything way worse.
The nurse, Recovery Girl gave her an entire lecture to not overuse her quirk.
