"You're too good for this world."
—
Soft and gentle fingers stroked across your cheek idly. You gave a little hum and exhaled a breath as you shifted, slowly being pulled out from the grips of the dream world. You became a little more aware of a thumb brushing across your lips and you gave it a lazy kiss. You didn't need to open your eyes to know who the slender fingers belonged to. They were the same fingers that had traced all along your body the previous night.
"Good morning, darling." You mumbled, still somewhat sleepy whilst nuzzling into the nice caress.
"And to you, sparrow." Came the reply of a silky smooth voice. Finally, you opened your eyes to see a lovely green gaze before you. Dark tousled hair hung slightly in his face as you smiled at him. V pulled his hand back away from your face to run down across your body under the blanket, from your neck to the curve of your waist where you laid on your side.
"What's the plan for today?" You asked, rolling onto your back to stretch your arms above your head. The poet's hand rested now on your stomach, drawing little circles on your skin.
"Hey now," you bit back a giggle, "that tickles." This only seemed to spur on the man as his other hand joined and his fingertips ghosted over your sides playfully.
"I wasn't aware that we needed any plan for today." He said with a small grin, moving closer to you as his fingers now danced along your sensitive sides. Half heartedly you swatted at him with one hand, no longer able to hold back the laughter that was building.
"V!" You drew out his name while whining at his assault. "Why are you so mean to me?" You pushed out your bottom lip dramatically as he started to ease up on his tickling. The chuckle that came from his lips was as sweet as honey.
"That's not what you were saying last night, sparrow." He drawled and immediately your cheeks flushed a deep pink. "I think I remember you saying how well I treated you. Especially-"
"Okay okay! I'm sorry, I take it back!" You quickly interrupted him before he could continue, pressing a finger to his lips to silence him. He smiled as he brought your hand away from his mouth.
"I merely jest, my dear." The poet soon settled back into the blankets with you, pulling you into his chest gently. You breathed a content sigh through your nose as you relaxed against him, tracing an idle finger along the swirls of his tattoos.
It was honestly a miracle that Griffon had not yet made himself known to torment you and V. The demonic bird so loved to throw jabs at the both of you, while sometimes it could get annoying, for the most part it was done lovingly. At least as lovingly as he could manage. It still surprises you more often than not that you had been able to catch the attention of the eloquent, poetry loving man who was currently holding you. The situation by which you two had first met hadn't been the best; it had been a crazy mess, but now things had settled. It settled so much that you both had adjusted to a mostly domestic lifestyle and he had truly come out of his shell of sorts since that first time you met. Of course, there were still moments when something came up and Dante would call, but for now, things were peaceful and you couldn't appreciate it more.
"Penny for your thoughts?" You heard V's voice, startling you slightly and you glanced up at him to see him gazing down at you curiously."Just thinking about a few things." You replied, snuggling into the man more, savoring the warmth that was finally able to cling permanently to his body.
"Care to go into any detail?" He was amused by your rather vague answer.
"Y'know, just wondering how I managed to get so lucky with you." You grinned up at him, bumping your nose against his affectionately.
"Ah darling, I believe I'm the lucky one here. You're too good for this world and out of everyone, you chose me." If you could have died from the overwhelming happiness you felt from his words, you're sure you would have. Finding that no words you could say would be good enough to match his, you simply leaned up to press your lips to his. He smiled against your lips as his hands grasped your waist, pulling you on top of him to straddle him. The blanket was still wrapped around your shoulders, mostly concealing your still very nude bodies. V peppered soft kisses all across your cheeks, chin, and down your neck a bit. His breath tickled against your skin as he laid his head back on the pillow, pulling you with him to rest your own head on his shoulder.
"Have I ever told you how much I adore you, V?" You asked him, though you already knew the answer that he would give.
"Every day, my love."
"Huh, well have I told you yet today?"
"No, I don't believe so, my dear."
"In that case, I love and adore you so much. There's no one else I'd rather wake up to in the morning like this."
"And I would not want it any other way, my sparrow."
"Aww, look at you two, getting all lovey dovey without me. A bird's startin' to feel left out."
"Good morning, Griffon..."
