Rye was still thinking about his 'friendly hangout' and frowned because it was probably nothing but a 'friendly hangout' to Andy. He didn't think he even had a chance with Andy.
He sat in his bed staring at the ceiling when his door opened "Rye why are you still in bed" he mother asked in shock. Rye only sighed and shrugged, his mother getting worried immediately, sat down beside him and gathered him into an hug.
"what's wrong hun" she asked in her loving voice as Ryes body started to shake "h-he'll n-never l-l-like m-me" Rye cried pulling himself closer to his mother. Seeing her son cry and to hear those words come out of his mouth made her heart break.
She pulled his face to face her and wiped his tears with her thumb "honey, don't doubt yourself you don't even know if he doesn't like you or not and if he doesn't he's not worth it because anyone would be lucky to have you" She said stroking his cheeks now.
Rye sighed, not believing her words but nodding none the less. "I know you don't believe my words but they're true. You're an amazing, sweet, caring and awesome person and you deserve the world" she said giving him a kiss on the forehead and standing up.
"But mom, he deserves the world too" Rye said because it was true, Andy had been beaten down his whole life and although he seems like the toughest person ever, rye knew he wasn't.
"Well give it to him" she said like it was the easiest thing in the world "if you think that he deserves the world then show him that you'd do anything to give it to him" she said further explaining what she meant.
Rye thought about it for a second, would he really want to be with him? What if he promised the world but couldn't give it? He wanted to see Andy's smile everyday of his life and he wanted to be the reason that it stayed on his face.
Rye smiled up at his mom "I'm gonna ask him to be with me, I might get turned down and he might never talk to me again but I want to try" he said although the whole "might never talk to me again" part made him a little unsure but he was gonna try. He was tired of being miserable because if the 'what ifs' clouding his mind.
"That's great honey I'm so proud of how far you've come" she said confusing Rye because last time he checked he didn't accomplish anything. She laughed at his confused face "I mean that you've come out of your shell and now look, you have your own friends without Robbie having to help you make them and you've been expressing your feelings more. Your father would be so proud" she said smiling fondly at her son.
Rye smiled back, only wanting to hear for so long that his dad would be proud of him. "I love you Mom" he said hugging her again causing her to smile "I love you too honey" she said kissing his forehead.
She hugged him one last time before exiting her room but coming back "Do you want to go to school today" she asked to which he shook his head 'No'. She nodded and walked back out if his door. Rye sat there and stared at the ceiling, making a plan in how to ask Andy out.
