19. Separation

Bree's POV

I clasped my hands over my mouth as the word slipped out.

M-mate..

I repeated in my head over and over. It wasn't a joke..the strong scent was coming from him.

I looked at him waiting for an answer or an explanation, but all I saw was him looking at me, waiting for my reply.

"I-I.."

"I know it was a startle to all of you, but I would like to announce this so that you would witness this and won't cause any other trouble with us. Dan's group wouldn't have been so successful without all of your company's cooperation with us. So you will certainly have my respect. But please refrain from trying to have your daughters or any women from your family to gain Dan's incomes. And I believe my grandfather will agree to. Once again, thank you for your presence here today and I hope you all enjoy the rest of the evening." He formally announced.

After he swiftly grabbed my hand and we left the stage. Then he brought me upstairs and we sat on a bench.

"Alejandro what-"

"Mate."

"How are you my-"

"Mate."

"No, you can't be-"

"Mate, listen to me."

"I-"

"It's called fate. I know you are still trying to cope with everything but accept this reality. "

"I can't believe it. You are my mate..."

"Yes. But despite being your mate it doesn't mean anything. "

"What do you mean?"

"I no longer have a pack. All I have is Dan's group. And I will do anything to protect it."

"But Mr Black, you are a wolf. You are not a human. You are supposed to be in the wild. Not mix in with other humans."

"Packs no longer exists in my world. But for you, it does."

"What-"

"I want you to go back. Go back to your pack, that is where you belong."

"No I-"

"Ms Everest. Killing me is no use. Killing her is no use too. And you don't fit in human society. You belong to a pack not a business."

He was talking to me seriously. The fury in his eyes was terrifying. Without a tone you have an instinct to submit and obey what he says.

"..fine. "

"What?"

"Fine. I'll go back. "

"Really? That's-"

"But. I have two conditions."

"Name it."

"First, bring me to that lady. And second, let me stay with you for a while.."

"What for?"

"Do you agree?"

"Yes."

I didn't know what came over me. I didn't even know why I wanted to stay with him for.

Maybe I just had some hope that it will work out, maybe...
