First off, this is fucking messy, you wanna know why? I wrote most of this in my head walking back from class, I got the idea from the fact that I heard banging and my reaction was "Where is the nearest class to hide in?" Yeah, our system is FUCKED
TW: Mentions of shootings, Death(?), just overall be careful please
Walking down the hallway
Head filled with worry
Was the banging a warning?
Should I run for cover, or should I be the cover?
what would I do if it happened for real
if only they prepared me for real
Remember the days, where our only worries, where if we wouldn't hear our parents calling us to dinner. Or if we'd be able to go to the park. Yeah, I wish it was like that again.
I wish I didn't have to worry about dying. I wish I didn't have to fear everyone because there is always a chance they could be the one doing the killing.
I only trust few people now. Jake, Jeremy, Michael, Brooke, and Christine are a few. I've known them long enough to know they wouldn't do anything to hurt me or someone else.
~~~
Walking down the hallways I hear banging coming from above, at first it was quiet banging, I could really hear unless I strained to hear it.
The banging got progressively louder, soon the only thing I could focus on was the banging. My mind was racing with each step, what was the closest classroom, who had the best cover?
I picked up the pace, trying to get back to my class as soon as possible. I had this class was Jake, I had to make it back. He doesn't know my fear, mostly because i don't blatantly tell people.
Stepping into class the banging became muffled.
Sitting down next to Jake, I realized my heart was racing. I started to calm myself down, until Jake gave me a look,
"Are you okay? You seem to have just witnessed a murder"
"Yeah, I'm fine, I swear" I tried my best to reassure him.
~~~~~~~~~
"Go into lockdown immediately, I repeat, go into lockdown immediately, teachers check your email if possible for further instructions." Everyone immediately shot up and shut up, starting the procedure we had practiced so many times, only now it wasn't a practice. It was real.
"Hey Richie, it's okay, come here" Jake whispered from where he was hiding, i went into his arms seeking the comfort.
We sat there for a long time until someone tried to hit the door down, it didn't work, they moved on, door after door doing the same thing, at a few points we heard banging.
Maybe 30 minutes, the police arrived, escorting as many people out as possible, getting most of safely, and arresting the guy.
I can't trust anyone anymore.
