"Goodnight Mom! 'Night Dad!"
I slammed my bedroom door and plopped down on my bed, waiting.
A few minutes later, my cellphone pinged, indicating I had a new message. I grabbed my phone from the night stand, unlocking it and opening the message:
USUAL PLACE? (9:15) - JOSH.
I sighed. Getting up, I walked into the bathroom to change.
In a while I was sitting on my window ledge, watching until my parents' bedroom light flicker off.
I didn't have to wait long since my parents went to bed at eight. Every.Single.Night.
I took a breath and dropped myself from the second floor of our four storey house.
I landed on my hands and knees in the damp grass tripping over a garden gnome. A garden freaking gnome! I was going to have to discuss this with the gardener later.
I listened to see if my parents heard me come through the window, as I did usually.
When I didn't hear anything, I scurried off down the garden, doging the guards at the front gate.
I squeezed through an opening in the fence under the rose bush and came face to face with our neighbour's dog.
Shit. "Shooo" I tried to get rid of him but he growled and sunk his teeth into the sleeve of my sweater. I gasped in horror.
This shirt was my favorite. Liv gave it to me for my sixteenth birthday. This dog was going to pay.
I shook him off my arm, scrambling off the ground and running down the street before he realized what was happening.
~.~.~.~.~>~.~.>~.~
In less than ten minutes I got to the empty park and right away spotted him in our "usual place".
I sighed and walked in at a slower pace. When he saw me coming toward him, his face lit up like a christmas tree with an adorable grin.
Boy,was this going to be hard.
"DJ" He grinned at me pulling me into a hug. His cologne, which was once intoxicating, almost suffocated me.
I held my breath and tried not to gag.
"Hey Josh" I smiled weakly.
"DJ,I've missed you all day.Seriously all I could think about was you in class.I honestly can't wait till after graduation when we can move to the city and get and apartment together and we won't have to hide from your parents and sneak around all the time and-"
"I'm breaking up with you Josh" I whispered quietly, trying not to sound rude.
"I-what? why?" He frowned at me, releasing me from his embrace.
"Look Josh, your'e a really sweet guy and your'e fun to hang out with and all,but I'm just not feeling it anymore. It's not that I don't want to be with you, but my parents don't like you. And I just don't want to have hide this from them." I finished lamely.
"Oh" He said looking down and shoving his hands in his coat pocket.
I almost felt bad.Almost.
"But DJ can't we like work it out or something? I love you. Please stay with me!" He pratically begged.
Oh my God was this guy serious? And wow he loves me? That's rich.
I almost yawned and rolled my eyes in his face but mom always told me not to be rude to people... in front of them.
"I'm sorry Josh" I don't know why I apologized. "Any girl would be lucky to have you".
He smiled weakly at me. "Thanks DJ". I nodded feeling awkward already.
I turned around ready to walk away. "Goodbye Josh".
He pulled me into a another hug and almost wouldn't let go.
Wait. Victoria's Secret having a sale tomorrow? I'd have to leave practice early.
"Bye Daniella". He whispered.
I sighed loudly. No one was ever allowed to call me that. I hated my name, it made me sound so old. Worse,It sounded wrong coming from Josh's mouth.
I was suddenly frozen on the spot when his voice reached my ears. "You know deejay", he drawled.
I winced.
"We can still do the whole friends with benefits thing".
My mouth dropped open. I spun around so fast I saw stars.
Eyes blazing with anger, I stalked over to the bastard and fisted his shit and pulled him in as if going in for a kiss.
He grinned momentarily before lowering his eyes a fraction.
I shot him a sickly sweet smile, pulled back my other fist and punched him square in the jaw.
His eyes flew open seconds before he tumbled into the duck pond behind him.
The sound of terrified duck quacks and Josh cussing was enough to make me smirk.
I hurried out of the park before I could injure that boy. Even more.
How dare that little scumbag?! Friends with benefits my arse... As if I was going to let some little slime ball take my virginity.
I wasn't looking where I was going when I tripped and almost face planted into the sidewalk.
Thank God no one was here to see that. For a trained cheerleader I could be pretty clumsy sometimes.
I groaned and attempted to stand up when I saw something sparkle under the streetlamp above me.Reaching down, I grabbed it, hoping it didn't explode in my hands.
I had cheerleading practice tomorrow.
I turned the thing over in my hand and noticed it was an iPhone.
I eyes widened in suprise when I noticed which one it was. It was the Gold iPhone 6.
I tripped over a freaking iPhone and almost died.Real awesome story for the news Daniella.
I can literally see it now:
Girl trips over newest brand of iPhone 6 and dies. The phone was lying flat on the ground.
I watched the phone in confusion as to why someone would just leave it there when suddenly it started to ring.
I hesistated but pressed 'Accept' and raised the phone to my ear.
"How'd you get my phone?"
