The next day in the morning James got up early and rushed to school eager to meet his friends to tell them about the book hidden in the cave.
"Daisy! What do you have to do after school today?" asked James.
"I'm not gonna play hide and seek with you guys again! You guys never follow the rules," she said.
"No not that," said James, "I got something waaay cooler meet me in front of big L's house after school today."
"Big L!" yelled Daisy, "are you crazy!"
"No no, this time it's gonna be fine trust me," said James.
"You're not exactly trustworthy James, but I really got nothing else to do so I'll wait for you there, and you would better be there!" she said.
"I will be there, trust me," he said,"I'm gonna go tell Robert and Steve as well."
"Fine, Robert is in Math and Steve is in History
*RING* *RING* *RING*
"Finally! School ended! To big L's place," thought James to himself.
*Knock* *knock*
knocked James on Chief Leo's door.
"Who is it...?!" said Chief Leo with a grumpy voice.
"It's me James, open the door please," said James.
"Now that's interesting. No youngster ever came knocking at my door with a cheerful voice," thought the chief as he headed to the door.
"What do you want kid? Huh? Tell me," said the chief in his usual grumpy voice.
"Heheheh...," snickered James, "I have gotten my hands on some pretty rare information Chief."
"Now that's interesting, spit it out or it's a hundred push ups for you boy," said the chief.
But James walked inside the house quietly and got into push up position and started counting, "1..., 2..., 3..."
"If you came here to train boy then get out now i'm busy," said the chief.
"No, no, no chief I'm here for the secret map of the lost book you see," said James with a grin. "I'll do whatever it takes to get the book back even if it means I gotta go through your harsh punishing training," said James.
"Hahahah..," laughed the chief, " now where would a boy like you know of such a thing?" asked the chief.
"I asked my mom about the unreasonable punishments you deal out and she told me about the catastrophe that hit us long long ago, and that these punishments were meant to train the kids for the tournaments to qualify in search expeditions. I want to find the book," said James.
"Idiot.., nobody ever came back from the expeditions. It would be suicide!" said the chief.
"I would like to give this challenge a go, please don't stop me chief," said James.
"And besides, you will never ever make it alive out there alone. You need a team," said the chief.
"heh heh heh," lauhged James quietly.
"What are you laughing at!" said the chief.
*Knock* *knock*
"Who could be knocking," wondered the chief.
"It's the team you said I need," said James.
The chief opened the door to see no one.
"What is this?" said the chief.
A head popped up from the said, "umm.... is James here by any random chance?" asked Daisy with reluctance and a stance that looked like she could runaway at any moment.
"So it's you guys..., I'm assuming Robert and Steve are with you?" said the chief.
"Uhhh..! Runaway!" a voice resembling Robert's came from the side.
"Will y'all cut it out and get over here already," said James.
Daisy, Steve, and Robert walked inside the chief's house to see James doing push ups vigorously.
"What could you have possibly done this time!" scoffed Steve at James.
"He is here by pure will," said the chief.
"By pure will! Noway," commented Robert with a shock.
"I need you guys to help me with something," said James. "I need you all to get over here and do a hundred push ups to show your worth to the chief."
"Worth for what," said Steve.
"you guys haven't heard of the disaster that hit us. Long long ago........................." said James.
"No way!" said Daisy, Steve, and Robert in sync.
"That's a lie," said Steve.
"No, it's all true," said the chief, "and if you all are honest and sincere about this mission then ya'll are gonna have to go through training like none other!"
"Heh... Finally! A worthy challenge for the torture you've put us through chief! Count me in," said Steve as he got into push up position and started working out.
"Don't leave us behind," said Robert and Daisy as they started doing their push ups.
"Heh heh heh, you guys sure are something. I'll get one of my best trusted men to train you guys, but first I must get consent from your parents. Take these sheets and get them signed by tomorrow," said the chief.
"Will do!" said the four in sync as they headed out.
"What did you get us into James," said Daisy in discontent.
"Ah! Please Daisy. I don't think I can find someone else in a short period of time! Please accept and come with us." said James.
"Whatever, beats being here in the village and it's nice to do something to pay back the village and its people," said Daisy.
"Mom! Mom! Please sign this," said James as he waved the sheet of consent in her face.
"What is it?" she asked.
"Consent to go through rigorous training to go on the search expedition to find the lost book mom," said James.
"How would you convince the chief to bring that silly search back," she asked surprised.
"It's the joy of achieving greater heights, mom," replied James.
"You would better find the book, lad" smiled James' mom on his face as she gave him the signed sheet, "off you go, son."
Later that day at sunset all four of the kids grouped up at the chief's house with the consent sheets ready and signed and the chief began introducing his trusted trainer to them.
"This is Sam. He is the my right hand man on the streets," said the chief.
"You flatter me chief. Nice to meet ya kids. Ya'll are ready to work your bones till they break," said Sam with an energizing voice.
"We've been doing that our whole life," replied Robert with an equally energized voice.
"Off we go, lads. This might be the last time you see your families in the next ten years. Our training camp is gonna be in the outskirts of this village," said Sam as he headed with the kids to the training camp.
