Chapter 6: Family Amendments

....Anurag's pov....

I'm sick of being underestimated!! Why is it always that I have to be the good one...the innocent one. And look at my fortune, I didn't even realise it until Leila came along and brought it up. That day when we went to the party she stood up for me when I should've defended myself. It doesn't even start there...i should've said NO to everyone that wanted to take advantage of me.

But now I understand!! I maybe be a bit drunk and my senses are coming alive more than wearing away. Its time I take charge. I believe if Ash were here he would want the same. I don't want to disappoint my brother who has done so much for me.

I drive around aimlessly until I'm at the ocean. Wow...its so peaceful out here. I get out of the car and tried towards the sea. The moonlight makes it look even more stunning. All my thoughts and problems vanish at this point.

I enjoyed the sight and the slight salty breeze so much that I forgot about leaving Leila behind with my parents. Shit!! Mom hates Leila for absolute no reason. I reach for my phone only to realize I've also left that behind in a rush.

I can't go back. Not looking like this...down and hurt. Also drunk, but not unstable! A screeching car sound came from behind. It can only be Leila chasing after me when I just want to be alone.

"Anurag!!" It was Leila's voice. Clearly of anger or shock...or both. "Anurag!! How could you just leave?" She shouts and I hear nothing but the calming waves.

I hear her nearing me furiously. I can't deal with her petty anger now.

"Leila, I don't want to talk right now." I told her, lind of regretting it because Leila does not give up...

"Oh! Guess what...I dont GIVE A FUCK!" She huffs. Well...if it's going to be with foul language. "There's something-"

"I said leave me alone!!" I lash out and walk further towards the sea.

"Like how you left me alone with your parents? Luckily, I was there because-" She follows.

But I dismiss her. "I don't care."

"Anurag, listen to me! Stop running away from this!"

"I'm not. I did it today! I fought for myself. Aren't you happy?"

"Ofcourse I'm  happy and proud of you standing up for yourself. But you-"

"Leila, I had enough. Thank you so much for your encouragement but I know what to do now." I told her. "I know what I'm doing. You can go home."

"Only if you go home first." She insisted. But why?

"Stop with this black mail!! I told you I know what I'm doing."

"Look, if you don't listen to me-"

"What will you do!!?"

...Leila's POV...

I'm not sure if Anurag is still drunk or I gave him the power to raise his voice at me. I don't ever remember doing that!

He charges towards me with anger. "What will you do, Leila??!"

"Anurag, stay in your limits!" I point a finger to him.

"No, I won't!! You're such a hypocrite Leila!! You tell me fight for myself...be confident...do what I love. Now when I am behaving this way, in a way that a male should behave...are you threatened?"

Oh my dear Lord. Now I will forget that I've fallen in love with such a man. But now is not the time for his spotlight moment of feelings that he should've realised years ago!

"Oh I'm sorry...did you pick up your arrogance and pride along the way here? Don't you dare talk to me like that Anurag!!"

"I just need my space."

"I may not be a big fan of your mom but she was super worried when you drove off. She had a panick attack!!" I finally tell him.

Anurag is shocked. "What? Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

"Did you give me a chance to speak?!!"

"Oh my God...." Anurag contemplates, obviously now feeling guilt.

"You have to go back and make things right."

He looks worried and sympathizes. "Leila...I'm-"

"Go right now!! I'm coming too."

.....Basu house.....

Within minutes we were back at the house. I had to go with Anurag and encourage him. Mohini loves her son a lot and whatever this rift they have, I will not get myself into more hot water with her.

"Mom!!" Anurag worriedly searches for the family.

"Son, we're up here." His father called from upstairs.

I followed Anurag upstairs but decided to stay in the hallway in case she gets another attack seeing me again. I'm clueless as to how she'll react upon seeing me so I'll stick out. Besides, Anurag got some serious apologizing to do after he checks up on his mom.

I peek nearby to the door to eavesdrop.

Anurag: Mom...I'm so sorry. Please talk to me.

Mohini: Anu....

Moloy: The doctor said we should not stress her out. Her blood pressure sky rocketed. She's never seen you react like that, son.

Anurag: I know. Look mom, I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere. I'm sorry for earlier.

Mohini: No, I'm sorry dear. I had no idea how you felt. It was selfish of me and I don't want to lose you. I lost one son...now I will not lose you.

Anurag hugs his mom and she tears. She's quite emotional and I would never expect it from a woman that's always so overwhelming when I'm around. She cares for him a lot.

I should leave and talk to him some other time. They deserve their family time after all the chaos with the house party and especially me being here. Just as I leave I hear Anurag say something.

Anurag: Mom, you should thank Leila. I would've never known...I was about to do something so rash.

Moloy: Leave her to rest for now son.

Embarrassed as the day I met my future in-laws, it occured to me that i should tidy up the place and get the alcohol bottles out of sight.

"Leila." Anurag called as I went downstairs. Turning to look back up at him I saw how he felt. It wasn't good to see him in that state. "Wait a minute."

He follows down and I make a move on clearing the party junk.

"Stop, you don't have to do all this. I'll clean up."

"This party was my idea so I'm responsible for cleaning up."

"Wait, baby..." Anurag clasps my hands before I turned away. "I'm really sorry for the way I spoke to you tonight. That was uncalled for."

"You should be sorry." I told him rolling my eyes.

"I know I'll make up for it."

"You must before I forget that we made love today for the first time." I told him with a teasing, annoyed tone.

"Baby, I'll never let you forget that." Anurag says with a smile, bringing me closer so he could kiss me. "Let's do it all again...."

"Hmm....when your mom gets better and we can increase our chances of getting caught." I say in s joking way and he looks fearful.

"No way!!" He fusses and I kiss him again. His soft lips melts me.

"Let me help you clean up."

"Okay, baby. And don't you ever spike my drink again." He scolds lovingly.

"No promises, I like tipsy Anurag!!"

We neaten up the place and I head home just before my curfew. Today's been one hectic day....an epic party, losing my virginity, witnessing a panick/heart attack. Eventful as it was, it'll be dear to my heart forever!
