Chapter 1: Alola to Alola!

Ash's P.O.V.

Right as we were allowed to disembark, I RAN off the ship.

"Yeah!" I exclaimed Pikachu jumping off my shoulder. "I'm finally here! Thirty long days at sea and now I'm finally in Alola!" I then slipped on something(was it a peel of some fruit?) and fell. I hit something and a huge splash came from the water.

"Oops..." I basically whispered.

A hat floated to the surface. Then came a head. There was a girl with short dark hair in the water. She spat water out and looked at me. I then watched confused as she burst into laughter, right there in the water.

"Got knocked into the water by a Kantonian!" she exclaimed. "Always good to reunite with the ocean. That's where water-types come from!"

"Uh... you're still in the water, you know."

"Oh, right!"

She attempted to hoist herself up, but she couldn't reach high enough. I held my arm out to he because why not? She took it, attempted to pull herself out, but in the end pulled me in.

She laughed hard at my angered expression.

"It's not funny!" I yelled, flailing my arms about in the water. She only laughed harder.

"Come on," she started. Her laughing ceased. "Let's get out of here."

We then got out of the water and started to walk somewhere. We walked in silence until the girl stopped.

"I forgot to introduce myself!" she exclaimed. She spun on her heel in an attempt to face me but lost her balance and fell. I couldn't help but laugh.

"That's a cool introduction. I'm Ash!"

"That wasn't... oh forget it... I'm Selene, assistant to Professor Kukui. I'll introduce you!"

It only seemed like a couple of seconds before we were there. She knocked on the door with the back of her hand thrice.

"Professor!" she called. After no response, Selene rolled her eyes and opened the door.

"I bet he's in the basement..." she said quietly to herself. I'm guessing that I wasn't supposed to hear that. Selene and I walked down some stairs and found this guy getting attacked by Pokemon.

"Yeah, Rockruff! Just like that!"

"Don't mind the professor's methods. It's just how he learns..." she told me. Selene then cleared her throat, getting their attention. "Professor, this is Ash. He just arrived here in Alola."

"Well hello there, Ash! I'm Professor Kukui! And this is Rockruff. I see you've already met Selene. She's my assistant."

"Would you mind if I gave Ash a tour around the island?" Selene asked. Wait what?

"Of course not! Go ahead and have fun."

"I never said fun, professor."

The professor seemed to have this strange expression in his eyes as he looked over at us. I'm beginning to think that he's been attacked one too many times...

Selene only shrugged and turned around.

"Come on, Ash. Let's go." She tried to go up the stairs but tripped and fell.

"You're a hopeless klutz. You know that, right?" I asked, grinning.

Selene said something under her breath that I couldn't hear and then we left, Selene making sure to hold onto the hand railings.

She then started to take me on a tour of the island.

Selene's P.O.V.

"The Alolan Island that you are currently on is called Melemele Island. It's pretty small compared to some of the other islands, but it's really nice. We have the most famous shopping district, Professor Kukui's Lab, the Normalium Island Trial, the Fighting Grand Trial, Tapu Koko's Protection, and so on! Melemele is usually a tourist's first stop!" I explained.

"Really? Where's the gym?" Wow... he doesn't know...

"Gym? We don't have any gyms or gym battles here in Alola, Ash. Instead, we have an Island Challenge."

"Oh... then it's decided." He stopped in his tracks.

"What's decided?"

"That while I'm here, I shall take the Island Challenge and then challenge the Alola Pokemon League!"

"We don't have an Alola Pokemon League..."

He then fell over somehow.

"I'll take you to Iki Town..."

"You want to take on the Island Challenge, do you? Very well then, here is an Island Challenge Amulet. Once you earn your first Z-Crystal, come see me about getting a Z-Ring for it."

"Why would I need a ring?" I couldn't help but laugh.

"So you can use the crystal's power, silly!"

We then finished up the talk and were leaving.

"And Selene..." I turned around. Ash had already left the building and I knew I'd have to catch up.

"Yes, Kahuna?"

"Look after Ash, will you?"

"W-what are you talking about? He's not a baby and I'm no babysitter."

"There's something about that boy... you'll need to make sure he doesn't get lost or get into any trouble... him and his Pikachu seem special."

"...yes sir..."

And then I left.

Hala's P.O.V.

I then turned to my Pokemon partner after Selene left.

"Those two will form a bond like no other... don't you feel it too?"

It nodded.

"Their bond will be more than that of Solgaleo and Lunala..."

I then came to a realization.

"Doesn't it strike as odd that their names are Ash and Selene? Ash like fire like the sun... and Selene like the goddess of the Moon from certain tales..."

Makuhita only grunted.
