The next morning was so nice. Gustave and I slept in and talked. He told me that he had hired an assistant director to keep everyone in line. We got up and dressed before going to the theatre. We walked in and the actors greeted Gustave happily. "Alright everyone I would like you to meet someone." He held up my hand bringing me forward. "Thai is my fiancé, Colette Belhomme." He introduced. "I expect you to treat her kindly." After that he had me go change into my rehearsal clothes. I took out my ballet slippers that Madame De Chaney, perviously known as Miss Giry, had sent me. I tied my ribbons and went back to the stage.Walking out I was caught around the waist. Gustave stood in front of me grinning warmly. "What are you so happy about?" I laughed. "I'm just happy that I get to spend some time with you." he said kissing me.We were alone backstage. I broke away from him and brace myself by placing a hand on each of his shoulders. I rose en pointe and cause him to chuckle. "Well I guess that makes it I little easier." He chuckled losing me again. "Hey, knock it off!" A man yelled at us. "Kiss your girlfriend on your own time. Would you two do that in front of your boss." Wow this was awkward. "All the time," Gustave smirked. I hit his shoulder and lowered myself until bother of my feet were flat against the floor.
The man flinched completely appalled and shocked by his answer.
"Where is you're director fetch him at once." the man ordered. Gustae turned as if he was going to leave and adjusted the lapels on his coat before turning back around and offering the man a hand.
"Hello, Gustave Destler, I'm happy to know that you take your job seriously but I would recommend finding out who your superiors are before you start barking orders," Gustave smirked.
The man looked mortified. "Please forgive me sir, I will make sure to do that," he said shaking Gustave's hand.
Gustave nodded in acknowledgment before he turned to me. "I'm really excited for you to see this production! This could mean so much for us!" He cheered.
I smiled nearly laughing at the childlike persona he had while working. It was adorable.
"Come on!" He said the moment I finished refastening my pointe shoes.
We dragged me back onto the stage before calling the cast on.
"Alright we are doing the engagement party scene!" He announced as everyone took places.
I sat in the pit and watched the scene above. The chorus sang a short song before a light haired woman came out with a man that warned her against marrying the man she was engaged to. She assured the man that she was making the right choice as Gustave entered.
He walked over to the light haired woman and they exchanged a few words before they began to sing the song that Gustave sang together the other night.
I didn't feel the connection between them and I have to say I was a little relieved. Gustave led the scene and the woman and her father sung a touching song that made me smile.
"So what did you think?" Gustave asked me after the scene concluded.
"It is wonderful! I will be delighted to see the finished product!" I beamed.
"I still wish you could be a part of my production," he sighed kissing the backs of my hands.
"Well I am choreographing a few numbers am I not?" I smiled touching the side of his face with one of my hands.
"I'm sorry I'm just terribly selfish and I dot share well," he sighed holding the hand that touched his face.
I thought back grimly for a moment. Back to close to a year ago when I met Gustave. I though back to everything that I had put him through.
