Minarets, bustling market places, aroma of suya ,snake charmers,Kolanut sellers, groups of men sitting down in front of houses, mosques and call to prayer, dried meat ,Happy people. That's how you know you are at my own side of the country. The Northern part of the Federal republic of Nigeria. Where the woman has no say and coming out of a marriage ,violence and abuse not considered is a huge taboo. I have always been a liberal ,wild and free girl. As a child i wondered why my mother couldn't ask any question. My Father gives orders and she obeys and it was the same with my Stepmother,my elder sisters, cousins ,aunties and all the women around me. And i always wondered how men were right all the time, had no faults and got away with everything. When you are immoral as a girl no one will marry you but if a man does the same they just wave it off and as the people from my place usually say ''Iskanci ga namiji ado neh'' and wave itr off but you see the girl would be treated like an outcast. Now, Back to me I am Azeeza Danliti ,I was given birth to on a full moon night ,In Sararin Kuka where i come from i am considered a blessed child and thus my Father named me Azeeza which meant Strong,Powerful and Dear.My Mum Hajiya Kande had never had a female child and you must have imagined the joy of having someone to gist with.
As tradition had it,Naming ceremonies take place after Seven days and my Father's 16th child was born.Azeeza her Mother's pride. My Father was a peaceful and Loving Man ,he loved all of us equally,I loved my Family my Stepmom was the strict one and disciplined all the kids my mother's and her's equally and my Mum was the non-strict one. I am going to tell you a story ,The story of My Life, how a strong person my Father was,how i fought for my right and the first person to leave an abusive marriage without giving a damn what the whole village had to say,or what the women will say at the market places ,the hair saloons and the massage parlour.
I AM AZEEZA DANLITTI and this is my story.
