You Don't Even Know

Chapter 15 (pt. 2)

I picked up the phone wondering why my godmother wanted to call me out of nowhere. We haven't talked in months...

"Hello?"

"Hey sweetheart!" Her voice was gentle and calming like the southern woman she was.

"Hey Miss Ruth. I haven't heard from you in a while."

"I know..but I called to tell you that Carmen is due to have her baby any day now!" I had to pull the phone away from my ear because she got really loud.

"Oh wow! Really?" Carmen was her adopted daughter. Ruth was all about caring for kids. That's why my momma to asked her to be my godmother.

"Yes! And I was hoping you could come down to be there when she has the baby." You could hear the hope in her voice, she was probably thinking about how Austin is twenty one hours away from where I live, and that I might not want to travel that far on such a short notice. But I haven't seen them in awhile..

"I can probably make it down there.." I said, unsure about my decision.

"That's wonderful!!" I pulled the phone away from my ear again. We talked a little bit longer, then we said our goodbyes and hung up. I headed back down stairs, which was my original plan, grabbed some chips from the kitchen, and joined everyone around the tv (next to Syd of course). I looked around, and smiled at how clean the house was.

"What took you so long?" She took some of my chips.

"I was talking to my godmother. Her daughter is having her baby soon and she wants me to go down there."

"Whoa..all the way to Texas?"

"Yep..and I already told her that I could go..." I had an idea, "Maybe...you could come with me?"

She started smiling "Why not?"

I laughed and jumped on her lap. "Thank you thank you thank you!!!" I kissed her cheek.

Everybody looked at us funny. "Hey...Don't start fucking on the sofa." Tyler said, causing everyone to laugh.

"No promises." Me and Syd said together.

Taco looked disgusted and sick at the same time. "Please...no.." Everyone laughed.

"Oookaay. Since you asked nicely.." I popped another chip in my mouth.

"What were y'all so giddy about a minute ago?" Tyler said as he tried to take my chips.

I slapped his hand. "Well..I was talking to my Godmother earlier, and she wants me to come to Austin so I can be there when her daughter has her baby, and I asked Syd if she could go with me. She obviously said yes, or else we wouldn't be so 'giddy'.."

Everybody looked at me and Syd. "Y'all goin to Austin??" Jasper yelled in my ear.

"I wanna go!" Earl said attempting to steal my chips.

"What's up with niggas and my chips?!" I popped his hand.

"Ow!" He poked out his bottom lip.

"Hey! Maybe all of us could go?" Hodgy said as he walked out of my kitchen with a bag of my chips.

"That's a good idea, but maybe you should put my chips before I have to pry them from your cold, dead hands after you go into rigamortis." Everybody looked at me with wide eyes. "What? Too much?" Everyone nodded their heads. "Sorry.." I laughed.

"Anyways..." Syd said changing the subject, "Road trip?"

"ROAD TRIP!!!!" Everyone yelled

"Road trip.." Hodgy said weakly as he walked back from the kitchen after putting my chips back. I think I scared him too much, so I walked over to hug him.

"DON'T KILL ME!!" I barely touched him..

"Quit bein a fuckboy..geez" I finished hugging him and sat back on the sofa next to Syd again.
