Injured Feelings

Tears and fears engulfed me as they moved closer. Someone pushed me from the back and I fell on my knees, painfully.

They were speaking a language I never knew existed. Something I couldnt comprehend even as I tried to read their facial and body languages, but I couldn't.

"Emmm....Good morning, I had an accident. I -"

"Ki lon so yii? Ede wo lon so (what is he saying? What language is he speaking?)" One of them spat angrily, digging his nsils in my light skin.

I painfully pulled my arm away and it scratched, making turn red.

They looked at me like a triator that wanted to escape it's judgement and my poor heart was throbbing hard and gast like a drum of war. A million and ten wuestion clouded my head as they pinned my arms by my sides, tying it tinght with a red rope.

'Where am I? Who are these? Am I dead better alive? Why me? Why is this happening to me?... I know I'm a sinner, Oh God, forgive me and help me through.'

"No please,  help me! I'm in pain!!" I cried, trying to explain things to them but they were all laughing. Wooing at me faulsefully wiping leaves and tree-brances harshly on my heard. It was as if they were celebrating something, with the way they all dressed and gathered.

'I don't seem to understand, I hope Markie and Don cones and save me from the mystery as quick as possible. Else, I'll die here within a week... or perhaps, a day.' I thought as they dragged me into the middle of the town.

"Please, save me! Let me go... Do't kill me!!!!" I pleased in tears as I tried to explain, not knowing if they would understand me at all. Some stared at me disgustingly, others looked at me awkwardly. And I kept on wondering what crime I've commited to deserve this? What have I done to experience this?...

Lost in my own thought, they tied me to a tree and wiped me brutally. All of a sudden, everything went blank.

***

I woke gasping for breath, a heavy shiever coming from beneath my lips. My whole body hurt and I feel fear and sweat covered my pale skin.

Lying on the bed, with wounds planted all over my body like deep sore boils. I could her the sound of my own breaths from beneath my nostrils as I sheivered silently in pain. My two red-lips trembled like that of a convulsing child...
All I could ask myself is...

'Where Am I?'

My eyes slowly turned around, looking at the four corners of the tiny, bambooed room. Everything around me suddenly feels disgusting as my weak eyes raked through the room, instantly. The saint that covered me was woody. I noticed I was buried in sticky, moist-like grounded herbal leaves. The saint of my boold was still fresh. My confused mind immediately flashed back to a movie I watched a week ago about black-cannibals from Africa.

The thought of it even terrified me the more. Around the room were dried human skulls, dark-painted shadows of scary spirits, huge-dried leaves, snail shells, a fresh, dead cobra was hanged beside the door. It's thick blood dripping from its black jotny-like, shiny scales into a small black calabash.

Just then, I remembered seeing masqurades rushing towards me. How the shouted and wipped my fair skin, blue-black. Then I wondered...

'How did I get here? Why is everyone in this heaven beast-like? Are this???'

I gently lifted my heavy head that was looking like a storm. I wanted to move but I noticed my legs were tied to the side of the bambooed bed. So were my hands. I layed back my head, hopelessly. Instead, a sharp pain stuck my whole body like thunder. I groaned painfully with tears gathering my sore eyes.

Hoping it was all a dream, hoping Tisha would come and wake me up from this crazy nightmare.... but I was hopeless because no one came. I hoped Mrs. Maggie would come and tell me Donald and Mick were waiting for me outside to go for the trip. But no, no one came. I couldn't help but to ask myself again...

'What is this? What part of the country am I? All I wanted was a peaceful trip... Can I ever survive this? How can I go back home?'

I closed my eyes and layed my noisy head to settle a bit, to calm down. I needed to understand myself for a moment, I've never been this confused.  Just listening to the silence that was already engulfing me, I heard the sound of people wipping and drumming. They were muttering something, as if it was arhyme or poem like it sounded melodious but not to me. I opened my eyes again, It was just now I noticed I wasn't dreaming afterall. No nanny would come to wake me. No friends would come and save me.

The noises grew louder and louder, as if they were all coming to myside. I was scared, what if these beasts use me for sacrifice. I immediately thought of an idea, a good plan. I tried to close my eyes, and pretend as if I was dead.

Just then, two hefty men walked in. Three elderly natives joined them. The elderly men looked like priests. They were all dressed in white. The five of them moved colser to me, all in one but I tried not to breath hard. My breath grew deep as my heatbeats fastened, harder and louder, like drums of war. I was gradually loosing it. Lossing my sense, loosing my breaths. I slowly recited my last prayers as I know. Surely, sooner or later, I would become a deadmeat.

"Soti ku ni? (Is he dead?)" One of the elderly natives asked, squating beside me.

He had funny drawing on his face. He was wearing a couple of white and red beads, hanging on his thin, bonny neck.
