Ten Years Later
"Finally I am back home!" I screamed when I walked into my Dad's house.
"Stop being so dramatic. You could of came back when you were eighteen. But you got a job and went to college in San Francisco. So the only person to blame is yourself." All my Dad could do was laugh at how crazy I am. "When do you start?"
"When I walk into my office for the first time." Right now we are bringing up all of my bages and boxes to my room.
"Well you need to meet the team. So why don't we go now so you can go to your office. Then at the end of the meeting you can meet the team."
"Ok that sounds good." We walked down stairs and to my Dad's car. "How long to you think it will take Drake, Mike, and Paul to realize who I am?"
"I am going to guess not until you say your name."
I shook my head, "You are probably right." My Dad walked to the locker room in one direction and I walked to my office in the other direction. Walking into my office I could not believe what I saw. This one room was as big as all of my offices in San Francisco combined. Walking all the way to the back of the room I sat down in the chair and started to read all of the reports that were already there."Why did I even let you out of the house looking like that. And you have to meet a whole bunch of football players." My Dad came get me and then finally saw what I was wearing. I had on jean shorts, a blue tank top that said 'Yound Wild and Free', with cream colored chucks. "I didn't realize that those shorts were that short."
I smiled and laughed, "That is because I pulled them up when you left, and you can't do anything about it. I am twenty-five and I do what I want." By now we made our way to the locker room doors and I showed the guards my pass."Hold up, you will be in the locker room all of the time?" One of the guards asked. I shook my head. "Good luck sweetheart. If you need one of us just scream." I shook my head as he opened the door.
"Listen up!" Dad screamed and the room went silent. "We have a new medical examiner. It is a she all you will treat her with respect. She is not just our medical examiner; she is the medical examiner for the whole NFC. And listen really good to this, she is twenty-five years old and you are not allowed to touch or hit on her." I walked into the middle of the room.
"Congrats, you now need to give me my money because I just win this bet." He took out a twenty and gave it to me.
"Hold up what was the bet?" Paul asked from his locker.
"Aww. Come on Pauley you don't remember the one girl that never turned you down to go to the movies?"
"Yea that one girl is Coach's daughter and the last time I saw her she was short, a little chubby, brown short hair, she doesn't have glasses, and she had short white legs." Yep Paul just described me when I was a kid.
"Well she grew up. Hey Pauley." I took off my glasses and looked him straight in the eyes.
"Holy shit it is you." He sounded so shocked. He got up and ran to me. Picking me up he hugged me so hard I couldn't breathe. "When did you grow up? Who said you could do that? When did you get back? And what the hell not even one phone call in ten years from you? I thought we were partners in crime here?"
"Sorry about that, I kind of lost your number. What did you think, I would never grow up and become a woman. I got back this morning. And thanks for telling everyone I was hoping I could keep that under wraps for a while." I hit him in the are.
"Sorry. Not. That is what you get for not calling me. I am serious when did you become hot?" Paul grabbed my hips and tickled me. Jumping away from him and closer to my Dad.
"What did I tell you about hitting on her?" My Dad's face went from joking to serious in the matter of seconds.
"Well I was kind of not listening. Now Emily answer my question?" He looked from my Dad to me.
"Six years ago. I ended up staying in San Francisco a while longer got two jobs and made something of myself. Oh and did I mention I got a doctorite too." On the last part I had a huge smile on my face.
"Damn." This time it wasn't just Paul talking it was also Mike and Drake."When they hell did you become smart?"
"I see nothing has changed between y'all. I was always smart, just never used it for the right things." All three of them shook their heads.
"Well since you are back and twenty-five want to come out with me and a couple of the guys in a little while. My treat since you just got back."
"Sure why not. Just let me go home grab some pants and heels and we are good to go."
"Steve, same place so I can pick her up and make sure she gets back safe." Paul looked at my Dad.
"I don't care as long as she is at work tomorrow morning in one piece, I am fine." He turns and looks at me.
"Looks like we are headed out. See everyone bright and early in one day."
Walking back to the car I got in and instead of Dad driving I drove. "Emily get your ass down here before I send the guys up there and drag you down here."
"I am coming down now. Shit, don't get all bitchy at me. I am a girl."
Walking down I changed into some black skinny jeans and some brown boots. "Ready?"
"Good thing I am driving the rest of the guys there if not they would be pissed that we are going to be late." Paul said as we walked to his truck.
"You do know that I won't be able to hit off that many guys at once."
"Haha very funny. If you hit any one the guys that are trying to flirt with me, I am going to hurt you myself." I spoke once he was in the other side and driving to one of the other guys' place.
"Someone sounds a little desperate." He looks at me and smiles. "Change of plans. We are going straight to the club." I smiled as he drove all the way there. "Ok time to show the new sexy as hell Emily off."
