Skull x Headphones (Splatoon Manga)

Part 4: Battle

Skull was suspicious of the inkling on the other team, so when the battle started, he immediately got to his sniping perch and began to charge the E-liter.

Neo started to advance using the side-to-side tactic, because the rest of Team Blue was going directly head-on. She began to charge up her special (Ink Armor) and quickly inked the rest of the top of Moray Towers.

Skull was focusing on trying to shoot down Goggles immediately, so he couldn't use his Squid Lightning Jet. A successful shot took down the much too eager squid, and another one sent Specs back to spawn. Headphones was in her usual spot where she was out of his range behind a block. He saw the odd inkling quickly working her down the towers, cleaning up where her teammates had not yet inked. He didn't know what skills the girl had, so he decided to snipe her as soon as he got the chance. And yet, for some reason, when he focused in on her, his hands started shaking.

Neo knew she couldn't let up her guard as soon as she got into the main area. She ambushed Paisley by hiding in her ink, then inched her way to an inkrail. She activated the rail, climbed up, and Aviators popped up, smirking with his L-3 Nozzlenose. He aimed to shoot her but Neo quickly swam up to the other end of the inkrail and activated the other inkrail that let to her spawn's direction. She was about to swim up that one too, but a lazer pointed right at her. She knew she had to run away, but her gut instinct defied her and she ended up staring where the lazer was coming from, which happened to be Skull's E-liter.

On closer inspection, Skull knew the girl had to go ASAP.

She managed to ambush Paisley, something not many can do, and she had the reflexes to escape Aviators, which was, again, not something people could pull off. 

She clearly was not a beginner.

He aimed his E-liter at her, and his hands started shaking again, for an unknown reason.

It was only when his gaze through the E-liter steadied when he realized why he was shaking.

Those eyes.

It was her.

Skull was so shocked he dropped his E-liter, which fell to the ground with a clatter. Everyone's attention was now on him.

Headphones held her charge and snuck up to Skull to fire at him, but when she came out of the ink, something was clearly wrong with him.

He was shaking and it looked like he was about to fall to his knees, which was something she never had seen him like.

"N-Neo?"

"Is that you?"

Neo couldn't believe her eyes.

It was her brother.

And it was then that Goggles ruined everything.
