Headphones was taken aback by how immediate Skull was to kissing her.

Was this the same Skull that rarely talked, the one with the ridiculously huge sweet addiction?

Skull was surprised Headphones hadn't pulled away yet from the kiss. Her breath tasted like strawberries, and her lips were smooth against his dry cracked ones. She kept cradling him, gently sucking on his lower lip.

And all too quickly, she pulled away.

Skull shakily loosened himself from her grip, and slowly got to his feet.

"So..." Headphones started after a couple of minutes.

"What's the deal with the octoling?"

Skull sighed and went to get his bandana, before sitting back down to explain.

"She was my sister." he started. "And I hadn't seen her since we were 2. She was slightly older than me, so she showed me how to climb up to the cabinets and find the candy."

So that explained his sweet addiction, Headphones thought.

"Then she got taken away because she was an octoling. No one approved of there being an octoling in Inkopolis. I think she was sent underground. But when the S4 moved to the Square, I thought that maybe I'd have to accept her not being in my life."

And his reluctance to move to the square Headphones thought once again.

"A-and, and..."

A tear slid down Skull's cheek, but was absorbed in his bandana this time.

"I'll probably never see her again."

That did it. His eyes started tearing up again, and the tears began to fall.

Headphones took this as her cue to pull out the candy she had brought from his apartment and offer it to him.

She was genuinely touched, as much as you could be when someone you care for just started crying in front of you. Skull had opened up to her, when he usually trusted no one except for his team and, apparently, his octoling sister.

"I thought these might cheer you up."

Skull cautiously took the candy (Woomy Snax) and slipped it under his bandana. The candy's sweet taste made him feel crazy for not having some for two days.

"Th-thanks. I needed this."

Skull pulled his knees closer to him, and Headphones hugged him. Since it was close to nighttime, the two of them quickly fell asleep.

Skull hadn't felt this secure in days.

Headphones had never felt so complete.

Their dreams were filled with octolings, bandanas, and of course, candy.

There they are, Commander.

Good. They appear to be immobilized, too. Do you think they would do this multiple nights as well?

Quite possibly, Commander.

Good. The footage you sent was quite helpful as well, minion. We will complete business in 24 hours time. Got that?

Of course, Commander.
