Chapter Eight

Rose Petal's p.o.v.

I looked out my castle window to see a pony who looked very shaken fly right by. As I watched him, he turned and saw me. He looked back in front of him right as he crashed into a tree. I laughed and flew out the window to help him. "Are you alright?" I said with a hint of laughter in my voice. He shook his head and said "I hit the tree pretty hard." We stared at each other for a moment, then started to laugh. He put out his hoof after we stopped laughing and said "I'm Ocean Line." I took his hoof and shook it. "I'm Rose Petal, but you can call me Rosey, everypony does." I said. He raised his eyebrows and said "Rosey, everypony does?" I laughed, knowing he was joking. I happened to look down and see that his chest had a very big sea shell on it. I eyed it curiously and pointed at it. "What's that?" I questioned him. He shifted uncomfortably and said "I've always had it, its kinda strange." I seemed to have hurt his feelings so I changed the subject. "So, why were you flying away so fast?" He looked around nervously and said "Oh, well, I'm........ Late! I gotta go! Bye." He flew straight up into the clouds and dashed off. I shook my head and flew slowly back into my room. I heard a knock on my door and it cracked open a bit. "Hi, I'm Cloudy Night, may I come in." I saw a little head pop through. A Pegasus a year or two younger then me was staring wide eyed at me. I nodded and she stepped in. She had big, brown eyes and a shocking bright blue coat. Her mane was green and purple. As I looked at her flank, I noticed that she had no cutie mark. Strange. All the other pegasi had a cutie mark. She saw me staring and gave a forced laugh. "Everypony seems to think my blank flank is interesting." She said. Great, two ponies I've insulted today. "Sorry." I apologized, but she seemed to not hear. She set the basket on my bed and mumbled something about a welcome gift. She flew out quietly and shut the door. I sighed and went over and layed on my bed.
