"I said no" I furrowed my brow and kept the jar of konpeito close to my chest. "Just one" Nobunaga held up his finger "I'll even let you have one" he gave me a sly grin. "I promised Hideyoshi I'd do this job for him while he was away don't ruin my reputation with him he finally stopped looking at me funny" backings away slowly I sprinted for the door.

"Wait!" he called out and I could hear him chase after me. After a while my lungs burned and I had to stop and rest. Nobunaga also stopped and gave me a curious look as I began to laugh. "Did something happen?" he asked looking around. I shook my head trying to contain myself.

"It's just this situation is so...so weird! I spent years of my life in school learning about Japan's history. About you Nobunaga, never once did I think I'd be hiding candy from one of the three great unifiers" I laughed so much I had to sit down.

"I see. I guess it is a bit strange" he let out a small smile and slowly began to chuckle lightly. After we calmed down a little we both just sat basking in the sun. "Thank you Nobunaga" I let out as I looked at the wind rustle the lush trees. "For what?" he asked. "For taking me with you. At first I was scared because I had no idea what was going on, but I'm glad you decided to take me with you. If you hadn't well I'm not sure what would have happened to me" I shuddered at the thought of being killed.

"I see" he nodded his head but he looked away. I was so focused on his face that I wasn't paying attention to his hands. When I felt a tug on the jar I reflexively slapped Nobunaga's hand. "Banshee! What do you think you're doing to Lord Nobunaga" I almost jumped into Nobunaga's arms when I heard Hideyoshi's voice.

"But he tried to take the candy!" I held up the jar. "That's no excuse for hitting him!" I could practically see the veins popping out of his head. I shrunk as he began to lecture me but then he stopped abruptly, "Lord Nobunaga NO!" he shouted.

Nobunaga was getting ready to put a konpeito in his mouth. 'Where did he get that? The jar was still in my hands!' He grinned at us and threw it in the air and opened his mouth to catch it. Grabbing his shoulders I pulled myself over him and caught the candy in my mouth instead. "Ha ha! Victory!" I pumped my arms in the air.

Hearing a low chuckle I turned to see Nobunaga taking the unattended jar. "Banshee after him!" Hideyoshi yelled as Nobunaga began running down the hall. "Yessir!" Scurrying to my feet me and Hideyoshi gave chase.

"You seem to have settled in Banshee" Hideyoshi said as he made tea. "Yeah the maids have made things a lot easier. They let me help out a lot so that keeps me occupied most of the time" I thanked him as he handed me my tea. "I see I'm glad. Oh by the way this is for you" he handed me a heavy pouch. "What's this?" I asked looking inside.

"I can't accept this" I gasped handing him back the money. "Nonsense this is your pay. Lord Nobunaga asked the maids to keep track of what you do and told me to pay you accordingly. He knew you wouldn't want a hand out but this is money you've earned" he said taking a sip of his tea.

"Nobunaga is- strange" I was surprised Hideyoshi didn't blow a fuse just then. "Lord Nobunaga sees your potential, you should be happy" he said. I thought on his words for the rest of that day and the next I ran to Hideyoshi with a request.

"You want to go to the market?" Hideyoshi looked up from his work. "Yes please" I bit my lip a bit worried. "I'm sorry Banshee but I have a lot of work to do and I don't want you to get lost" he looked concerned and that made me kind of happy.

"Lord Hideyoshi" a voice came from outside the room. "Mitsunari? Come in" Hideyoshi looked at the door open and a sad Mitsunari come in. On his white and purple uniform there was a big black splotch of what I assumed was ink.

"Mitsunari, What happened?" I rushed over to him and began to press my handkerchief to his stomach so the ink wouldn't bleed further. "My brush fell on me" he said. Hideyoshi sighed as he rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Okay that's it why don't you take a break Mitsunari. Oh I know you can take Banshee to the market and show her around town, okay?" Hideyoshi forced a smile even though he must have been pretty stressed.

"Would that be alright with you Mitsunari?" As much as I wanted to go to the market today I didn't want to inconvenience anybody. "I'd love to" Mitsunari beamed like the precious angel he was. It was kind of odd to think of a grown man as precious but Mitsunari checked all the boxes. He was like Azuchi's official wingless angel, although I wouldn't be surprised if he did have wings.

"Then get on with it, Mitsunari don't forget to change first. Oh and keep an eye on Banshee!" he called after us as we waved him goodbye. I was finally able to put my plan of payback in motion. For Nobunaga and the other warlords.
