"Kate!" She cries out.
"Are you hurt?" I say before anything.
She shakes her head. "I'm not, are you?"
I look down at my bloody knees and ripped pants. "It doesn't matter. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
"What happened?" I ask as we can begin to feel the van start to move.
"I'm not sure. Mike and I were sleeping in the basement, then somehow I ended up in this van."
"Okay. You're going to be okay, nothings going to hurt you, okay?"
She nods her head. "Okay."
"Dad and the police know what happened. They know that you're gone and they'll be looking for us."
"That's good." She says.
"Yeah it is. We'll be fine." I try to reassure her, but mostly reassure myself that we will truly be okay.
El wipes the tears from her eyes. "I'm sorry for being mean earlier."
"It doesn't matter anymore. I forgive you."
"No but you were right. I shouldn't have left."
I nod my head. "It's okay. You wanted to see Mike and I understand that."After about a twenty minute drive, the two Russians begin to yell uncontrollably. As neither of us spoke Russian, we didn't know what they were saying but they were not happy.
El began to shake and softly cry. She rarely did this whenever somebody yelled because she's a strong girl, but this time she was terrified.
