chapter 15 - okey dokey yo

It was the weekend after Changbin had asked Felix to be his boyfriend. Although they rarely saw each other at school due to their different friend groups, they managed to talk on the phone most nights to make up for it.

Today was the day of the anime convention and Felix was at Jisung's house with the rest of his friends while they prepared for the con. He had asked Changbin if he was free this weekend, but unfortunately, he had a prior commitment. It kind of worked out though as Felix was well aware that his friends didn't like his boyfriend, in fact, he hadn't even told them yet that they were dating.

"Are you all dressed Channie?" Jeongin said with a devilish grin on his face. The boy had somehow managed to convince Chan to join him in cosplaying as the main characters from Haikyuu!!

    "Yes..."

"Then hurry up and come out!"

Chan groaned from where he was getting changed around the corner. "I don't want to. Why did I agree to this?"

"Pleaseee, do it for me," Jeongin whined.

Chan slowly emerged from around the corner. A messy black wig that had seen better days was laid sloppily on his head. The black and orange volleyball uniform that adorned his body was much too big, the shorts threatening to slip right off.

Jisung and Hyunjin immediately burst into laughter and Chan's cheeks became bright red.

"You look like my ten year old cousin when he got rejected from his elementary school volleyball team," Jisung said through laughter, tears threatening to spill from his eyes.

"I think he looks very handsome," Jeongin huffed as he crossed his arms.

The boys packed themselves into Jisung's mom's van and they hit the road.

"Wait, wasn't your license suspended?" Jeongin asked Jising, causing Felix's heart to drop.

"No. The worst thing I've done in this car is driving you guys crazy," Jisung snickered, sticking his tongue out as he laughed at his own joke, earning groans from the rest of the boys. "But yeah, it was suspended."

"What the fuck, Jisung, pull over!" Hyunjin gasped as his attention was pulled away from the match he was in on his phone.

"Relax, it was only for five days last week. I'm a free man now."

"As if that makes anyone here feel any better," Chan scoffed and shook his head.

"I told y'all, I'm a driving god. I can even steer without my hands, if you want me to show-"

The rest of the boys shouted no in unison.

Felix had never been to a convention before, and to say he was blown away by the size of the event would be an understatement. Thousands of people, many of which were dressed in elaborate costumes, filled the convention centre. As shitty as Chan and Jeongin's costumes were, they had already encountered half a dozen Haikyuu! fangirls desperate to take a photo with them.

The first hour consisted mainly of the group trailing behind Jeongin while he excitedly went from booth to booth, spending who knows how much money on cheaply made yet overpriced anime merchandise.

"Don't forget, you promised we'd check out the Hellevator Online booth," Hyunjin whined as Jeongin bought his third Yuri on Ice poster.

Felix heart jumped at the mention of the booth because he knew bin567 was going to be there. A part of him was curious as to what his online friend looked like, but on the other hand, he felt that it wasn't fair to bin567 for him to secretly meet him without telling the boy first.

"We can go there now," Jisung said as he began to check the map in order to locate the booth.

"Uh, anybody want to come get a snack with me while they check out the booth?" Felix asked, hoping this was a way out of being dragged to the booth.

"Sure, I'll come," Chan agreed. "How about we meet up again by the entrance in an hour?"

The rest of the boys agreed to the plan and the two groups split off. Chan and Felix made their way through the crowded walkway and to the aisle of booths that were selling food. They joined the long line for a table selling mochi.

"I feel bad for Jeongin's parents. They've got a real shopaholic on their hands," Felix chuckled.

"He does the same thing every year. He doesn't spend anything for the entire year, but then goes wild at this convention. It's fucking adorable, honestly," Chan said with a big smile on his face.

Felix thought back to when Jeongin admitted to having a bit of a crush on Chan. He thought about how the two were constantly all over each other, and desperately wanted to just tell Chan to go for it and ask Jeongin out. However, he knew it wasn't his place to play cupid.

"I saw on your Snapchat story that you were at Everland the other day, who'd you go with?" Chan asked.

Felix felt his cheeks heat up as he struggled to come up with words to say. "Oh, um, just with a friend." It hurt his heart to lie to Chan.

"Ooh, was it that 'friend' you had been talking to when we were at Jisung's place?"

"Yeah, that's the one," Felix said with a nervous chuckle.

    "Do I know them?"

No. Just say he doesn't know him. Felix bit his lip, weighing his options. On one hand, he could spill the entire truth and admit that he was dating Changbin. Or he could simply cover it up with a lie. You see, Felix was not the best at lying, so he found himself somewhere in the middle of the two options.

    "Yes. It's Changbin."

To Felix's surprise, Chan didn't seem upset. Or at least, if he was upset, he was doing a hell of a good job at hiding it.

    "Oh. Nice."

Thankfully, they had reached the start of the line which quickly stifled out the conversation revolving around who Felix was with at Everland. They ordered their mochi and graciously thanked the servers. Felix took a big bite, and wow, it was the most delicious mochi he had ever tried.

After wandering around for a while and chatting while eating their food, Chan and Felix made their way back to the entrance to meet up with Hyunjin, Jisung, and Jeongin. Jeongin had bags full of merch, which Chan offered to help him carry.

"Everything okay?" Felix asked, noticing an irritated expression on Hyunjin's face. "Was the Hellevator Online booth everything you expected it to be?"

Hyunjin nodded, but still wore the same expression. "Just a little disappointed. I met one of the top Korean players and realized he's just some asshole that goes to our school..."

Felix was going to ask who it was, but he was cut off by Jeongin rambling on about all the things he had bought. He couldn't help but smile as he watched Chan listening to the younger boy with a smile on his face. He really hoped the two of them would end up together.

Later that night once Felix was home from the convention, he decided to send Changbin a message since his boyfriend had been on his mind for much of the day.
