Luckily for me, the school was only a 20-minute walk from my house, so I got there 15 minutes early. As I walked into the gates, most people turned their heads to look at me.
What's wrong with them?
Didn't their mothers ever teach them that staring is rude
Ugh who cares, just ignore them
I was about to continue walking when I heard the sound of a car beeping. I turned and saw Jack driving Amelia, and so I walked over to them. By now, everyone was staring at us.
"Hey Hope" Jack said
"hey, I didn't know you were going to drive Amelia, I would've caught a ride"
"yeah I wasn't but she was running late so I offered to take her"
"aw you're so sweet"
"Whatever, have a good day mils" I smiled at Jacks use of Amelia's nickname
"see ya" I looked at her, and to say she looked stressed, would be an understatement.
The car's roaring engine brought me out of my thoughts. I quickly said goodbye to Jack and faced Amelia.
"Hey, what's wrong" I asked
"I'm just really worried, what if they bully me?"
"they're not going to bully you, just be yourself and don't let anyone tell you differently. And if that doesn't work, tell them that your sister and 2 brothers are always happy to teach them a lesson"
"haha ok" she looks a little relieved
"ok well do you want me to drop you off to your class, even though I don't know where anything is"
"haha no it's ok" I smiled and she turned around, going towards her first class, "oh and Hope"
"yeah"
"thank you, you're the best" I walked over to her and we hugged so tight, that I couldn't breathe, and I'm pretty sure she couldn't either
"no problem, I would do anything for you, except for killing someone, get Jack to do that"
"haha bye Hope"
"see ya" she walked away with a big smile on her face
I turned and looked around at the tables of people. There were about 5 tables. 1 was empty, 2 were occupied by 2-3 people, and 2 tables were put together, which was taken up by, what I'm guessing is the popular group, since there are like 20 people surrounding them. I then notice a girl sitting near a big tree. She was alone and was playing on her phone. She looked nice so I walked up to her.
"hey"

"what's your name?"
"Emma, what about you?" She was hesitant, and it was very clear to see.
"Hope, nice to meet you"
"you too. Um, can I ask you something?"
"yeah sure"
"Why are you talking to me?"
"what do you mean?"
"well, nobody really talks to me, the only person that did talk to me, in a friendly way, moved to a different state"
"oh, well I don't know, you looked nice so I wanted to talk to you"
"so this isn't a dare"
"why would it be a dare, has someone done that to you"
"yeah once, last year"
"that's such a bitchy move, anyway, do you wanna be my first official American friend"
