Kimberly P O V:

Pat had come to wake me up earlier and had brought my dinner up to my room for me which I was grateful for. I doubted Nathan would have joined me, so it would have felt awkward eating alone in his dining area. The food itself was amazing, it looked and tasted like something you would get at a five-star restaurant, which also didn't surprise me.

Now, I was left comfortably full after my meal, but exceedingly bored. I take my gaze away from the white ceiling above me, my hands reaching toward my phone beside me as I search for Brandon's name in my messages.

To Brandon:
Hey, what are you up to? I miss you. I'm sorry about earlier

I bite my lip as I wait for his response, my fingers picking my phone back up at lightning speed when it buzzes.

From Brandon:
Hey Angel, I miss you too. Come and see me tomorrow, I'm having a party.

I feel my lips frown as I read over the text. He hadn't mentioned a party to me earlier, it briefly makes me wonder if he would have told me about it at all if I hadn't messaged him. Still, I couldn't avoid him too much. He was my boyfriend, I loved him. Even if seeing him whilst at a party wasn't the most enjoyable of places, I still wanted to see him.

To Brandon:
I'll be there. Goodnight, I love you.

From Brandon:
Ily too babe. Come at nine tomorrow.

I sigh as I turn my phone off. Should I let Nathan know that I'm going out tomorrow? He probably won't care much but it feels right asking. He was in charge of taking care of me for the time being after all. I feel nerves begin to prick at my stomach as I get out of bed. I had to ask him now before my anxiety got the best of me. Just get it over with. What's the worst that can happen?

....

"No," He replies coldly.

My mouth fell open in shock, my eyes searching his face for any trace of a lie, but I saw nothing on his expressionless face.

"What? Why not?" I question quietly, watching as he sighs before returning his gaze to the laptop in front of him.

"You've only just got here and now you want to attend a party?" He asks with an incredulous look, his eyes settling on me once again, making my fingers fidget nervously.

"It's only to see my boyfriend," I see the way his jaw clenches a little, but his face gives nothing away.

"Absolutely not, your brother asked me to keep you safe whilst staying here," He leans back in his chair, and I feel scrutinized under his gaze.

"What's unsafe about going to a party?" I ask seriously, watching as he looks up at me with the same incredulous look, making me regret speaking in the first place.

He was silent for a moment, his hands raising to rub at his temples as if my presence itself was a burden. He was the one making this more difficult than it had to be, I was eighteen for goodness sake, and I was allowed to make my own decisions. I only came in to let him know.

"I'll go with you," I feel my eyes widen at his sudden answer, my mouth falling open.

"You can't be serious," I huff humorlessly, watching as his stoic expression doesn't move.

"B-But it's a party full of teenagers and you're you," I motion my hand towards him. "Why would you want to waste your time going to something as pointless as that?"

"Because I can't ensure you're safe when you're not under my watch," His arms cross over his chest, and I try not to look as his suit tightens around his muscles.
