The Kai Chronicles: The Great Escape

Prologue

It was a dark and stormy night, the constant sound of rumbling thunder seemed never-ending. The Mede household, size 4 people, was having a usual family night. Playing their traditional card games, with the weather softly playing in the background.

The family consisted of Dahlia, the sweet loving mother who took care of her children very well. Ski, a bright 13-year-old girl, who seemed smarter than her years. Ty, 10, a small boy who loved to cause mischief to his siblings. Last in the Mede family was Kai, 9, he loved to play with his siblings and to draw.

The boys had a secret, a dark secret. Something their mother tried desperately to keep within their house walls. There was something in the boys' minds that didn't seem to leave them alone. Ty and Kai would talk to themselves, and wake up screaming at night, and sometimes Dahlia would find a disfigured dead animal in the gates of their backyard. Kai would be the one who mutilated the animal, and Dahlia would find that Ty would just sit and watch with amusement.

This night had been a particular great and normal night for the family. The boys had been calm and hadn't showed any signs of their deabrus showing, which made Dahlia feel uneasy. Kai and Ty would act up at least once a day, and Dahlia would have to sing to them to calm them down; and because of this, the boys were homeschooled.

A particularly loud thunder made Kai jump, and with his landing his deabru had taken over. He let his guard down for not even a full second, and his deabru was ready to surface and do what it does best.

The Laws Lab took the Mede boys from the streets when the cops showed up to the bloody mess that was left of the Mede women. Dr. Sode got word of 2 boys at the CIA base, he hadn't heard much about them, but he was interested to know what they had done for them to end up there.  When he heard what had happened, he was intrigued. He had heard that they both posses enhanced strength and speed, but those traits were the only things that the boys had shown before they came back to their normal selves again.

Dr. Sode had the boys transferred to the lab almost immediately, so he could begin to analyze them. At first he just watched them, the way they interacted with each other and with outside sources, and then he would try to poke at them a little to see what would set them off. Their deabrus, the name the boys would call them to Dr. Sode, were scary when in action. Dr. Sode began to devise plans to keep the boys loyal to him, he wanted complete control over them.
