Ty:

When Ty woke up, his breathing was heavy, cold sweat dripped off his forehead. He blinked multiple times to try to get to his senses, he was in his room, the walls a soft green, the bed sheets were black, but his duvet was a dark army green.

As Ty tried to get his breath back, he took in the furniture in the room. Beside his bed there was a bedside table, with a lamp and a clock on it, there was a drawer underneath it. Parallel from his bed there was a wooden, medium sized dresser. Above the dresser was a mirror, and across the mirror was a window. The window was not big, but it was covered with a black curtain. Ty slowly got up, and made his way to the window, he drew the curtain and covered his eyes for a second. Once his eyes got used to the light, the view was very plain and boring, but it had an almost creative edge to it. He could see most of the town, all the small one-story houses scattered in an even fashion. Mountains could be seen in the distance, clouds dragging across the mountain tops creating a smoky look. It was around sunset, the gradient sky mesmerized Ty, he hadn't ever gotten a chance to sit and see the sun set.

Ty closed the curtain and walked to his dresser, when he pulled out one of the drawers, he was surprised to see that there were clothes in it. Most of the colors in the drawer were dark earth tones and black. He was relieved that he would have more than 3 things to wear, and that he would not have to go shopping for clothes. Ty wanted to lay low for a while, so shopping was something he was still wary about.  Ty made his way out of his room, heading to the kitchen. His stomach growled at the thought of food, he knew as soon as Kai woke up he would be begging for food.

Upon reaching the kitchen, Ty reached for the lining cabinets. He was not surprised to see food in it, he grabbed a box of mac and cheese and began his search for a pot. The last cabinet he peeked in had pots and pans stacked neatly. He nodded and picked up the first one that was big enough for the noodles. Once he had the water on to boil he decided to check out the living room. The leather couch that sat in front of a TV looked really comfortable, Ty had to refrain from throwing his whole body onto it. The TV was a decent sized, flat screen, and there were small speakers surrounding it. There were 3 remotes neatly lined up on the table that rested between the couch and TV. The remotes each had small logos on them, so Ty knew he would figure their use later. There was a large window on the wall adjacent to the couch, silver curtains covering the view of outside.

Ty walked back to the kitchen to find the water boiling, the bubbles popping up at the surface reminding him of the bubbles him and Kai used to blow in the bathtub when they were babies. The memory quickly fades away as he hears Kai moving about in his room. Finally, the kid is awake, Ty rolls his eyes. He pours the noodles into the pot and walks to the living area, throwing his body onto the couch. Ty lets out a long sigh as his body sinks into the cushions, it is comfier than he thought it was going to be.

Kai drags his feet when he enters the room "Dude, it feels like my whole body was hit by a truck" he complains. Ty rolls his eyes "You're just sore, you never liked running but you need to condition. We never know when we are going to need to do it again." Kai lets out a long groan and sits on his brother's stomach.

"Move your fat ass, I'm making mac and cheese" Ty pushes at Kai, trying to get him off. Kai puts more of his weight on his brother with a smirk. Ty wheezes and pushes harder "can't. breath." He pretends to stop breathing and goes limp. Kai stands up and stares at his brother "Alright, alright. You're so dramatic."

Ty pulls himself off the couch, walks to the kitchen, and lets out a curse. Some of the noodles had boiled over, all of them looked way to soft and mushy.

"Ty, how can you burn noodles" Kai exclaimed in disbelief.

"Well, if I didn't have big booty Judy on me, maybe I wouldn't have." Ty responded with an exasperated tone. "I guess we'll see if there is a diner nearby, and hope for the best." By this time, it was around 7:30, and the boys haven't eaten since the day prior before they escaped. Kai nodded and went back to his room to get ready, Ty followed suite.

After the boys had gotten ready, they left the apartment. Ty double checked to make sure the door was locked, he was still paranoid. It hadn't been that long since they escaped, they shouldn't be going out. The chance of being captured again was high, Ty stumbled as he thought about it. "Ty chill, we'll be fine- they won't be checking this area, they have so much more room to cover with the latest stop." Kai reassured. Ty nodded and took a deep breath.

"Are you boys looking for a place to eat?" Flora spoke, startling the boys. They both sheepishly smiled and nodded. Flora gave them a genuine smile and gave them directions a local diner. They both nodded a "thanks" at Flora and began their journey in the new, unfamiliar town.

It took the boys 10 minutes to locate the diner. The building looked run down on the outside, grass blooming from the cracks on the sidewalk leading up to the door. The bricks looked like they were about to fall apart, and there was rust along the door hinges. It looked old, but it felt home-y, the old look made it seem like it has a purpose, and that purpose is the reason the building is still standing.  It was dark out, so Ty couldn't make out anymore special things about the building.

The bell jingled as the boys entered the diner, everyone turning to see if it was someone they knew, and the eyes never strayed. Ty caught a few eyes of customers, giving them a cold hard stare back; most of them immediate to look away but some seem to size Ty up before looking away.

"Welcome to Benny's! How many for you tonight?" a chirpy voice broke Ty from his glaring. Kai was quick to respond to the girl, holding up his first 2 fingers and tightly smiling at her. The boys were lead to a booth on the right side of the restaurant, a large window next to them.

Ty's eyes scanned the room once more, and got caught on hazel ones across the room. A girl standing in a uniform, was leaning against the counter by the kitchen, her eyes were narrowed as she scanned the boys. Her face changed to one of fear for a split second, she quickly turned around and ducked into the kitchen. Ty shook his head and picked up the menu.

"I didn't bring much, so pick something cheap" he gruffed to his brother. Kai let out a whine but picked up the menu and starting looking. Ty's eyes skimmed the menu, nothing seemed to jump out at him. The only thing that seemed appetizing was their cheesesteak sandwich.

"Hello, my name is Sadie, I will be your server today. What can I get you to drink?" a voice interrupted the brothers of their search. Ty looked up and met eyes with the girl who was watching behind the counter. Ty gave her a short "water" and looked back to his menu. Kai ordered the same and the girl walked away.

"Dude, why so rude" Kai asked.

Ty snorted "rude? Who's being rude?" His brother gave him a look and shook his head. Two cups of water were set down on the table, followed with two straws. "Do you boys know what you want?" Sadie asked, she seemed to be using a fake voice; It was high pitched, and it annoyed Ty. Kai gave his order, Ty followed, and she left again. Ty could feel the stares, and glances, of the strangers in the diner.
