Chapter Five
"I Thought We Were Friends"
Anger was not Albus' usual way of dealing with things, anyone you asked would say they'd never met a guy with more calm and cool than him, never violent or losing his temper-just when he was really angry. 'Like his father,' some would chuckle 'that's a Potter boy for you, cool as can be until someone finally goes to far.'
And someone had gone too far.
Fists clenching, Albus slipped through the halls, searching for the face that made his blood boil with rage burning in his brilliant green eyes. He didn't see the confusion on his classmates faces, or how first years scuttled out of the way in fear-someone whispered that they feared for whoever had made him so angry.
Entering the great hall, Albus spotted him sitting there as if nothing was wrong, like he hadn't broken the heart of Albus' best friend-his cousin! Scorpius rose when he saw Albus, a smile starting on his face.
Albus wiped that smile from his face with his fist.
Bending over, Scorpius looked up at his best friend, confused as he held his hand to his nose, blood gushing between his fingers. The dozen or so students in the hall seemed to double as Albus pulled back his fist one more time, fury etched into every inch of his eyes like a piece of art-he was furious, no one could stop him.
"Al-"
"What the bloody hell is wrong with you, Scorpius Malfoy?" he hissed, pulling out his wand and pointing it to Scorpius' neck "Seriously, what went through your head as you did it, hey Malfoy?"
Scorpius shook his head lightly, still confused "Albus, I have no idea-"
"Did you watch her, wait until you were absolutely sure she was asleep before leaving?" voice dripping with venomous hate, Albus backed Scorpius up against the wall. "Was it fun for you, tricking her, making her think you actually loved her-then destroying one of the best people I know. You are sick, Scorpius Malfoy, sick."
Scorpius had gone pale, white as his button down shirt "Albus, I swear I-"
"Don't lie to me," Albus' voice dropped to a dangerous whisper "I trusted you, considered you my brother. But Rose is my cousin, and family comes first-not that it matters after what you did to her." With one last look at him, Albus whispered in his ear, making Scorpius practically shake.
"Stay away from her, Malfoy, or I'll make sure you never do this to any girl every again. Stay. Away."
Time was something Rose had never admired. No matter how slow time will go for you; it's never slow enough. It's almost if going slower will make you hurt more because going slower doesn't mean that time will eventually turn back for you. And the past month had been so slow, yet so fast; days blurred together as Rose tried her best to ignore the wounded and apologetic looks of one god like boy, grey eyes stunningly hurtful.
Rose just wanted it to end.
From the outside nothing seemed to be wrong. Her marks were better than ever, she attended all classes and every meal, went to every Quidditch match and preformed all her head girl duties. But on the inside she was broken. She may have come to meals and classes, but she only spoke when spoken to, and barely ate the food on her plate, just pushed it around and took a bite every now and then. Somehow though, no one seemed to notice-except the few who were never far away, ready to catch her if she fell.
"Rosie-e-e-e-e..." Olivia sang, crawling onto Rose's bed and grinning down at her "Guess what?"
"I don't like guessing, it makes me feel unstable in my place as a genius."
