"For those who get them, there is always a cost"
I am never alone I can always hear them, and always see them. The voices of those I know and those who are gone. I never liked my gift. You might see people call me "Freak" or "Nerd" if they called me by my name, they might live longer. My name was Ryan, Ryan Silverlake.
My room was dark and cold. The walls, painted an icy gray, were bare except for a single picture. It held an empty medieval table (sometimes it filled with ghosts though). I went over to the closet and pulled out, a pair of blue jeans with a white shirt, I had cut the sleeves off to make it a tank top. I would wear it even in winter, nothing could be has cold has the voices in my head. I stepped out of my little room, to check on my parents, their eyes were cold has when they died. I hurriedly slip out the door trying not to attract attention, into the early morning air, they told me I could tell no one of my powers. I had told my best friend Dion, when he was training, he still often talks to me. One of the few ghosts that is always at my side. When I got to school, I through all my stuff in my locker, except for a pen and some stationary.
The light inside the school was always blinding, it meant I tried to leave as soon as possible. I never liked to stay, ever since Blun died. I felt the halls heartless. History was going to start, walking carefully down the hall trying to avoid running into any "trouble." Trouble decide to have different plans.
Right there, on the one end of the hallway stood Derran, and two of his "friends." Derran, was a big man, he had a buzz cut along with everyone else in his gang, his hair colour was black, compared to my silver, his eyes were a deep green, nicer than my icy blue. I hear a deep voice fill the hall "Listan Ryan, give me your money or else?"
The way he ended it made it sound like a question. Holding my temper is one thing I have never been good at, "I always have a spare coin for the poor, and helpless." then I turn and bolt out of the bright, bare hallway. Right into two more of them. I hit one of their knees with the heel of my foot, and the other one with my shoulder in his gut, knocking each of them over. I sprint, rushing down the hallway, trying to find the least used restroom. I had outrun all of them, except for Derran, I slowed down a little bit, leading him, luring him. All I was thinking was that he would never do this again. I carefully turn the corner and make it look liked I dived into the bathroom, in truth I had stood just around the door, I had no issue with hiding my gift now, I knew what had to be done, and I do it gracefully
I turned off the light has soon as he walked in there making the only thing visible, me. "You are nothing, worth nothing. You aren't even worth being a voice in my head." Derran starts to walk back, slowly retreating, afraid. I had done it correctly, his eyes were wide with fear I thrust the pencil into his throat, killing him. No one will find him. Not after I am done.
I toss him into the trashcan and remove the bag, after of course cleaning the mess, I walk out of the school, taking the least travelled routes and approach my spot, the one spot I was safe, the hidden well, about a five minute walk from the school, I knew the creature that lived inside, though I never saw him. Right now, he was my only friend, and has he says, a friend should always help feed another, it had become a place where I dump the corpses, the one place where I can't hear there voices.
