Roddy sat at her desk, writing.

She heard her hunk of a man come in, but she wanted to finish her thought up. She had been working on the literature for a long time.

"Whatcha writing?" Kai did not try to look because he wasn't sure if she was going to tell him what it was or not.

"It's a book, it's called The Final Mission. I am not going to spoil the plot now, but I'll definitely let you read it when it's finished. Definitely one of my more interesting pieces." Kai was intrigued by her intellect. He found wit to be more important than looks. However, he knew he hit the jackpot with Roddy when it came to both of those categories.

"Why don't we go get ready for the mission, eh?"

★★★

Ziva had a bad feeling.

The mission coming up in exactly three hours and two minutes was planned to complete perfection. She just could not shake off the feeling as though someone were watching her. She laughed at herself after a few moments. How could anyone watch her in a house that was so heavily guarded?

Diego came up to her and cast her a small smile before handing her the dress she would be wearing that night. He could not wait to see her beautiful curves accented by the dark green color. He knew she would look stunning.

"What's wrong?" He furrowed his eyebrows and sat down on his bed. He patted the space beside him and Ziva sat, immediately being engulfed by his arms.

"It's kinda silly. Something is off. The air is shifted." He nodded, slightly agreeing with her.

"Well, there's really not much to be done. Why don't we take a walk instead?" She nodded and they were off.

If only they had seen the camouflaged man, watching them from the depths of the forest beyond them.

They were at a government party.

Ziva almost had a hard time entering everyone's names into the guest list. Luckily, Diego had a few tricks of his sleeve and they had tag-teamed the rest of the task until it was complete.

"Everyone get in positions." Ziva muttered into her earpiece as she clutched Diego's sleeve dangerously tight. Nobody found them to be suspicious due to the amount of security placed outside.

Raina and Brody were chatting it up with the governor of some random east coast state. They were not listening to anything he was saying. The pair were watching a lady move behind him. She glanced around before whispering something into a hidden mic in her ear.

"Lancer has been spotted. Raina and I are no more than two steps away." Brody said as inconspicuously as he could. Good for them the governor was oblivious, bad for the state that he governed.

Somewhere upstairs, Roddy was in a meeting.

She was surrounded by members of the federal government and listened intently. They were discussing a technological breach in their system that a woman by the name Margaret Lancer had conducted. It was large and caused a lot of damage to their system. Too bad none of them knew she was at their very venue.

"Agent Cassius? What do you think?" Roddy glared at the man who spoke.

"Jennings! What did we say about addressing me by my last name? It's Agent Roddy." Her glare intensified and the young man laughed at her. He found her to be cute.

"Okay, Agent Roddy, what do you think?"

"I think the government needs to get off of their fucking high horse. If any of you had taken even a second to check the guest list, you'd know she is here with her entire gang. So congrats." Roddy was already pissed at the people sitting around her, but now she was even more so. The higher up government officials thought they were all that.

"What do you suggest we do, Agent Cassius?" Roddy glanced at Jennings again, but said nothing about his name this time. There were more important things to discuss.

"I don't suggest anything. My crew is handling it and I am telling everyone to back off because I am 100% sure that Margaret has at least six bombs in this building." The government officials looked at each other with worrisome expressions. Roddy rolled her eyes.

"You heard her. Everyone in this room needs to evacuate. Do not go through the front, back, nor side doors. We will filter down to the basement in pairs periodically. Most important role to least important, you know the drill. Agent Cassius? Come with me." Jennings gestured her towards him and they left the room.

"Are you sure you got this one?" Roddy nodded with a raised eyebrow. She knew Jennings to be the one who always put his faith in her when others had not. She did not expect for that to change.

"Sometimes, I wonder how stupid Americans can be. I was smarter than most of the people sitting in that room in preschool." Roddy was frustrated with dealing with the higher ups. She met with the president and vice president fairly often and was happy to do so because of their intellect. They were easily two of the smartest people she had met. She could not say the same for everyone else.

"I agree with you. However, their lives are in our hands, alright?" Jennings pulled Roddy in for a hug and she rested her head on his shoulder. She stood in his embrace for a few more moments before pulling away and sighing.

"Thanks, Jennings. I really needed that. Sometimes it gets to be too much." He nodded and cast her away with a two finger salute.

Downstairs, Kai, Winslet, and Cale were trying to hound up Lancer's gang. There were just so many of them.

"Backup is needed. Over ten men spotted." Lucky for them, Roddy had just put her ear mic back in. She was not allowed to have it during the meeting due to confidential information being shared.

"Jennings?" She called out as he turned around excitedly. "Wanna come beat some ass with me?" The pair rushed downstairs and worked their way through the crowd until they arrived where the mass of the gang was.

"Let's shred 'em." Roddy and Jennings immediately got to work. They had gone through training and initiation together at an academy before joining the government field.

Most of the gang were wounded effortlessly and efficiently before being dragged out by guards. They had caused a bit of commotion and Roddy had to hide. She was one of the government's best agents due to her anonymity. Even her closest friends knew very little about her.

Kai stood off to the side, casting a look of pure longing towards Roddy. He noticed how well her and the guy worked as a team and wondered if Roddy and him would ever look like that.

A boy could only dream.
