Chapter 38 Lisa VIII
Bruce exploded with a larger explosion than Lillith or I ever produced. The red light blinded me as it filled the environment. I couldn't hear anything and all I could think of was if Bruce was alright. He had to be. The light faded and Bruce laid there not moving. Lillith, now kneeling on one knee looked at us. The metal removed from us by Bruce. He must have used his lunar dust to counter her. The force of the lunar energy took a toll on Lillith herself. Her clothes torn and bruises scattered all over her body. The killing gaze left and replaced with a lost and angry expression.
I pushed thought the pain and stood. My body staggering. Until a rush of energy went through me. The words heal fading on my skin as Shawn collapsed from the pain. Jasmine and Charlie stood, also healed, but only the wounds were closed. I ran over to Bruce, who was barely breathing. The wounds were healed but exhaustion took its toll on us. Tears welled in my eyes as he said one more word.
"Sorry."
He passed out from the exhaustion.
"He thinks he failed us." Jasmine stood back up, using her sword to hold her up.
"He's so dramatic." Charlie managed to choke out a laugh.
I couldn't join in. Anger replaced my fears. I stood up. One thing on my mind.
"Can we kill her now?"
"It's not the most Christian thing to say, but I like to think that we are going to play for keeps." Charlie stood turning to look at Lillith. Jasmine flanked me to my right.
"No arguments here. Take her."
With that, I let loose arrows that exploded on her force fields. Lillith tried to mount another attack, but it went wild from her exhaustion. Charlie appeared from behind her stabbing her in the neck and then turning to impale a dagger in her foot. He jumped out the way as Jasmine's frogs hopped all over her and exploded.
She dropped to her knees. "No, this isn't possible."
I stood in front of her with an arrow in my hand, "anything is possible with God. Too bad you never learned your lesson. I may not be perfect. I may never live up to what I believe God wants., but I know my friends and I are his and he has mercy. Mercy, which I will not be giving to you."
I pushed the arrow into her head and she gave a weak smile. "At least it's over." Her body exploded and faded away in a burst of light before the pieces touched the ground.
