I woke up in a comfortable position, but felt pain in my left arm. I feel the mattress and sheets below me and open my eyes to look at my surroundings.
My whole family sat in the hospital room in silence. My two brothers in separate chairs and my parents on either side of the bed. I move my only arm left and feel the limb that is throbbing with pain. I sadly realize that I was attacked by a shark. "Mom?" I squeak out in a tired voice. She looks up quickly "oh sweetheart!" She says with hope in her eyes. I felt my eyes grow watery but didn't seem to let any tears out. "It'll be alright she assured me." I nodded understandingly, but grew more aware of the thirst I had. "I'm thirsty." I complained. "I'll go get water." Said Noah quickly jumping up from his chair and walking out of the room. "It hurts!" I said as I closed my eyes in pain. "I'll get the doctor." Timmy volunteered.
Soon Noah was back with a bottle of water and Timmy was walking back in with the doctor. "There's my favorite patient!" He exclaimed with a warm smile on his face. "You say that to everyone." I said as Noah handed me the bottle of water. "I mean it when I see you." He said. "So I hear you've been having some discomfort." He added, but making it sound more like a question. I nodded. "That's normal young lady, you'll have discomfort. You've lost a lot of blood." He said with a sad smile. I tried to smile back at him trying making this atmosphere more happy. I don't like to be sad. "Bethany, I know your thinking that you might not be able to do a lot of things, but the things that you will be able to not do are so little." He said. I nodded and smiled, knowing his words would be true. "Thank you." Said my mom. He nodded "no problem. Anytime." He left us with a smile and walked out.
The rest of the day was pretty boring. I slept and slept and slept. That's all I basically did.
I woke up late in the evening to an empty room. Sighing I looked over to the window seeing my dad sitting it the corner. I guess it wasn't so empty now. "Hey sleepy head." He said closing the bible he was reading. "Hey!" I smiled. My dad was silent as he grabbed my hand and placed a little kiss on the middle of my hand. He started weeping and I felt tears on my hand. "It's going to be ok dad." I reminded. He sat up. "Bethany your right. Because we all know that you can do all things through him who gives-" I finished "me strength." Dad smiled at me and I flashed a smile back.
This was one of my favorite bible verses, Phillipians 4:13. I say it over and over again when I'm troubled or scared, or even want to remind myself that he's always with me. "Dad?" I asked. "Yes sweetheart." He smiles looking up from his phone. "When can I surf again?" I asked. "Maybe, Soon." He replied with a hint of hope in his voice. I hoped it would be.
I was old enough to stay in the hospital for the night by myself so my dad kissed me goodnight and left, as soon as I closed my eyes again, I fell fast asleep.
Hey guys, sorry it's taking so long to update! Schools been busy.
Here's that bible versePhillipians 4:13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
