I woke up to a scream. I quickly got up, and fell to the floor, unable to stand. I looked around, and saw that I was in a jail. It was dark and gloomy, with nothing in it but a bed, a toilet, and a sink.

When I sat up, I realized that I had no memory. I couldn't remember my parents, or anybody. Not even my name. All I needed to know was that I needed to get out, because, based on the scream, I would be tortured to death.

The only problem is how. There was no way to get out, only through the door. I tried it and, obviously, it was locked.

This was it. The end. I was never going to get out. I would never get to see the light of day. I would never be able to remember who I was. I was going to die in this place.

Suddenly the door opened, and the light blinded me. A woman walked in and started to talk to me. She said "Who are you?"

I said "I don't know."

"Good. So let me tell you. You are Marcus Flint, a prisoner of the law. You did a terrible thing, and tried to overthrow the government. We captured you, and you are here, to this day. And you will stay and live here until, of course, you are permitted to leave."

"Why do I have to do serve my time since I have no memory?"

She smiled smugly and said "Because you deserve to die."

She walked out the door, and plunged me into darkness.
