I was still in shock from hearing her say that. Why can't they just kill me? That would be better than pain and a slow death?
She yelled at me to get up. I tried to move, but I just couldn't. So she got one of the knifes off of the table, and she slit the skin of my legs.
I screamed. It was excruciating, and to make it feel worse, she yanked out two black poles from my legs.
That set me off. I was screaming at her, and I sat up to hurt her. When I sat up, the pain went away.
She said "They are leg stabilizers. We implant them into you to make you unable to walk. The pain is from it's release. I barely touched the skin."
She didn't lie. She barely cut into my legs.
She then said "Your first task: you will go to your house. You will then torch every house along the street, and burn the entire neighborhood. You will even have to kill anyone who will try to stop you. And when that is done, when government officials arrive, yell in their faces things that are against the government. Run back here as quickly as you can. And remember, arson is a crime punishable by death."
I can't do this. I can't become a rebel against the government. I can't do these things.
But I have to do it for Marcus.
I grumbled "I...will...do...it."
The woman smiled and said "Good. Go and do it now."
She helped me up and brought me to the door. It was time.
