Y/NS POV

Beginnings are hard. We recently moved into Nockfell I think like a month ago and even when you'd think that'd be enough time to settle in and make new friends I still sit alone at lunch. I don't pay much attention to being akward though, instead I doodle on my notes to distract from the bad things coming my way. Those bad things being my stepfather. My real dad died 5 years ago but the wound is still sorta raw. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy when mom is happy, which she seems to be with my stepdumbass but he's just not the same as my biological dad. Mom says it's because we're still not used to eachother but I call bullshit on that.

A paper hits my head driving me away from my thoughts. I look towards the direction it was thrown at me from and put on my scariest face but it quickly softens when I see a long-haired boy mouthing to me 'oops sorry'

I've noticed the boy before because of his height but I never payed attention because he just reminded me of those classic smoke-behind-the-school druggies that were all over the school. When I open the paper I see scribbly handwriting and a big smiley face. The note reads; "Hey do you wanna sit with us at lunch? :)" I turn back at the boy that is now looking and talking with a girl with weird blue hair in pigtails.

"Okay sure :)" I write on the paper before crumbling it up and tossing it back missing his desk and making it land into his bag.

"Y/n no passing notes! One more time and you have detention." The teacher frowned at me. Once she turned around I glanced back at druggie-looking boy and being rewarded with a simple thumbs up.

"Hey trap." an unfamiliar voice comes my way and I feel someone behind me. "Excuse me?" I turn around. "You know we could've been friends if you wouldn't have talked to that huge brunette bitch." the person walked away. "Dumbass i don't even know you..." I mumble before walking to the cafeteria. I look around and see nothing so I place my lunchbox on the table and sit down.

"Another day, another alone lunch."
"Another day but it's not quite the same." a soft voice comes my way and I see the boy and girl from before sit in front of me. "oH hI!" my voice cracks. 'Godamnit so much for first impressions' I roll my eyes. "Damn I've only said one thing and you're already annoyed? I knew I was annoying." The girl said. "OH NO NO NO ITs not about you."

There was a little bit of a silence beside the chatter that echoed through out the cafeteria but it was soon enough broken. Four more people sat down; two skinny girls, a chubby boy and a ginger.

"Who's this Sal?" The shorter girl asks. Before 'Sal' says anything I introduce myself. "Hey I'm y/n I'm kinda new but not really I don't know is a month a long time?"

"Depends how you look at it. I'm Ashley by the way." She smiles at me.

"To segway to my introduction I'm gonna use this wiggly worm." The tall dude pulls out one of those wiggly hairy toy worms and wiggles it for a few seconds on the table before actually telling me his name. "I'm Larry. This is my best pal Sally-" Oh so it's not a girl? "-this is Maple-" The pale girl with piercings shyly waves at me. "-that's Chug." He smiles at me with his teeth covered in chocolate making me chuckle a bit. "-and that's Todd. He's really smart so if you play your cards right and he might tell you the answer to an equation." The ginger rolls his eyes and starts eating his salad.

I look over at the Sally dude. "That's a cool prosthetic!"
He straightens up "I'm amazed that you knew it was a prosthetic." Sally I think smiles at me because his ears raise up.

We continue eating our lunches and pack up to go home.

-

"Welp this is our bus. We'll see you tomorrow!" Ashley says and pulls Maple by the hand into the bus.

"Where are you guys going?" I lean back on the bench.
"Were going to The Addison Apartments." I open my eyes wide. "Really?! I'm going there too!"
"Oh hell yeah." Sally laughs at me. "Which room number?"
"Number 404. 404 not found HA-HA funny. One of you would have eventually said it."
"We've just met today and you're already able to predict the future. Wow you're observative."

It seems as if Larry wanted to say something but the arrival of our bus interrupted him and we went in the motorized can sitting and squishing together in the 2 seats. Eventually we settled on me sitting up against the wall and even sitting a tiny bit on Sals lap and the boys would just sit normally with half of Larry hanging out of the row seat.

-

I said goodbye to the boys and we parted ways into our each separate apartments.

"Hey honey how was school?" My mom asks me stirring a pot of sauce. "It was pretty good. Mom? Did you notice a blue haired boy and a tall brunette boy? I sat with them at lunch today." I mention to her.
"I think so. Are they nice?" she asks putting away the spoon. "Super nice!"

"That's lovely sweetheart. Oh! By the way, your stepfather is gonna come over for dinner tonight so go shower and clean your room." I freeze up and my shocked face turns to an annoyed one. Letting out an 'ughhh' and a sigh I plop on the couch and flip the channels with the TV remote.
"Come on hun, we talked about this."
"Yeah we did and I told you I don't like him."
"But you're just not getting along for now, it'll change-"

I interrupt her by slamming the door to my room.

FUUUCK.
