Stormberry's Secret [A Warriors AU Fanfic] {On Hold}

Chapter Six

Mistypaw sighed as she dragged herself to the fresh kill pile. She wasn't doing as well as a warrior as she hoped. Thunderpelt was brutal with training and Alderflame wasn't much better, just kept telling her to try again.

Mistypaw looked around at who was here. Cheerystar laid on the ground, the sun warming her as she slept. From the looks of it, she had eaten two mice. Songpaw was trying to decide whether to eat a mice or some shrew. Goldenheart was taking her sweet time with a shrew as Echofoot chatted her up. She, Ashtail, Cherrystar and Songpaw had all gone out to hunt for the food. Speaking of Ashtail, he was currently chatting with Red storm as they shared a shrew, as Flamedew listened quietly beside them to Ashtail's story. Morninglove laid just outside the nursery with her kits, Icekit, Sparrowkit, Toadkit and Oceankit played moss ball with one of the junior warriors, Sliverfrost. Tabbypaw was also playing with them. How did she get so much energy after all that training?

Mistypaw went over and decided to pick out a mouse for herself. Alderflame, Stormberry and Thunderpelt came last. Thunderpelt grabbed a shrew and went over to sit by his mate. Cheerystar opened her eyes and smiled at the tom, licking one of his ears, making him purr.

Alderflame came over to the pile and grabbed a squirrel and subtlety set it down by Stormberry. She noticed it and looked over, her tail swishing back and forth as she held a paw lifted, sniffing the squirrel making her whiskers twitch. Alderflame smiles shyly at her and dipped his head, silently offering it to share.
"Thank you, Alderflame." Stormberry said quietly as she glanced over at Mistypaw, Songpaw and Tabbypaw who were busy chatting and complaining about training.
"Mistypaw hasn't been fairing as well as I hoped." Alderflame explained to Stormberry with a frown as he nibbled on the squirrel.
"That's to bad... how has Tabbypaw been doing?"
"She's far more enthusiastic. Thunderpelt is her mentor." Alderflame explains. Stormberry hums as they continued to eat.
"Why are you so quiet?" Alderflame questions and Stormberry frowns.
"I'm fine. There's no harm in us having our meal in silence is there?" She asks and Alderflame hesitates and leans in to whisper to her.
"Aren't you the least bit concerned about our kits?" Stormberry glares darkly at him, beginning to go into one of her glum moods.
"Of course I am... I wouldn't have asked if I wasn't concerned. It's just... we aren't mates anymore, Alderflame. I broke the warrior code!" Alderflame gives her a pain expression, but is quiet for a moment.
"It hasn't stopped me from loving you." He says, getting up to stretch. He pushes the rest of the squirrel over to Stormberry and goes over to Flamedew, Ashtail and Redstorm.

Meanwhile, Mistypaw is glum.
"Why are you so worried about it?" Songpaw asks. They had been discussing training, and Mistypaw explained her worries.
"Because I just am! I'm just worried because... what if being a warrior isn't for me?" She asks Songpaw, eyes wide with sorrow. Songpaw shrugs.
"Maybe it isn't for you. But you'd have to decide that for yourself you know?"
"Yeah... maybe ask Stormberry if she needs help with collecting herbs or whatever. Although I can't imagine why anyone would want to do that, yuck!" Tabbypaw says in disgust as Songpaw glares at her. Tabbypaw's ears flatten in embarrassment as Mistypaw takes the last few bites of her mouse.
"I think I might go over to her and ask." Mistypaw says as her sister's head and ears perk up. Songpaw gives Mistypaw an encouraging smile.
"When?" Tabbypaw asks.
"Maybe after our duties?" Mistypaw guesses as the three apprentices leave to remove bedding from dens and ticks from Goldenheart... a task that no one was looking forward too.
