Chapter 21

Molly's POV

It was early morning and Joe had just finished his surgery. He was thankfully going to be alright but he would have to stay in hospital for a couple of days. I sat Darren's lap in the hospital waiting room.

"This is my fault" I told him.

"Stop saying that. It was nobody's fault"

"If I hadn't forced you all out the apartment we would all be fine"

He held me tightly in his arms and stroked my hair.

"Don't be stupid. We understand. Don't blame yourself"

I was trying hard to hold back tears. I had cried enough today. Annie and Jeff walked over to us hand in hand.

"Hey we are going to go get some breakfast. Do you guys want anything?"

The thought of food made me feel quite sick. More sick than I already felt. We thanked them for the offer but told them we were fine.

Later on we were aloud to see Joe again. He was still asleep from after the operation. Megan was sat by his bed holding his hand. She was with him every chance she got. The 5 of us were silent until Darren's phone beeped. I turned to him and saw him pulling it out his pocket.

"I'll be right back, I have to take this" he gave me a kiss on the cheek before walking out.

We started up a bit of small talk while we waited for Joe to wake up.

About an hour later Joe started to come to. Darren however was not back yet. I watched as Megan burst into tears again. She hugged Joe with all her might and continuously kissed him. Me and Annie just exchanged a smile.

"I'm sorry" I mouthed to Annie.

"Me too" she mouthed back.

A few minutes later Darren appeared. He gave Joe a hug and asked him if he was alright before coming over to me.

"Can I talk to you outside?" He whispered in my ear.

I nodded and followed him outside.

"Who was on the phone?" I asked.

"Ryan, they are filming the new season of glee. He wants me to fly out on Monday"

"What!?"

"I know it's sudden. I won't leave if you don't want me to"

"No you have to. I can't hold you back. I'm just going to miss you"

He pulled me into a hug and kissed my head.

"I'll miss you too. It won't be as long as we think. Don't you worry"
