"What do you mean?"

"Amariah, look, I've liked you for a while now."

"Is this a joke?"

"Ma, I'm serious, I've liked you for what feels like forever, I dated other females to get my mind off you and find someone I wanted to spend my life with, all of those girls I asked out were the wrong ones. I thought I could hide my feelings but I can't. Honestly Amariah, I like you and I want to ask you if you'll be my girlfriend?"

I felt tears well up in my eyes.

"Yes!"

Jabez smiled at me, we hugged for what seemed like an eternity until I broke the hug.

"Jay?"

"Yes ma?"

"Did you mean what you said?"

"Every word"

Jabez kissed my cheek as we kept talking and eating whilst watching movies. A few hours later it was about 10pm. I was getting tired and was thinking of going home.

"You should spend the night, my parents won't mind."

"Yeah, are you sure they won't mind?"

"Positive"

"Okay, I'll text my mom then."

I texted my mom that I was staying over Jabez' house, she was cool with it. A few minutes later I was getting ready for bed. Jabez let me borrow his hoodie.

I was in his bathroom washing my face when he came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist.

"I like you too jay."

I saw him smile in the mirror.

"Can we take this slow?"

"Sure."

"Thanks Jay."

I hugged him.

"Okay so, where am I sleeping?"

"Uh, our guest bedroom is kinda... we're still working on it."
"You can sleep in my bed, I'll sleep on the floor."

"Babe I don't want you-"

"I've already decided for you ma, sleep in my bed, I'll be fine on the floor." I was pissed, I didn't want him sleeping on the floor for me.

"Jabezzzzzz..."

"Mamas, I'll be fine."

"I'm trusting you."

He winked at me, I got into his bed whilst he got a mattress on the floor. I got into his covers and laid my head on his pillow. Even his bed smelt like him.

"Good night princesa."

"Good night bebe"

We faced eachother and smiled before going to bed.

Next day...

I heard someone knock on Jabez' door, I was half asleep so I didn't think much of it.

"Come in." Jabez said to the person at the door.
The door opened revealing a guy, I hadn't seen him before.

"Bro who's the girl?"

"Shut up, she'a tryna sleep!"

"Sorry, who is she?"

"My girl"

"Uh. Okay."

I opened my eyes.

"Oh, uh, Amariah meet culo cojo." Jabez sounded like he wasn't expecting me to wake up.
