When Maisie was finally at the main hospital in Dublin, where Ave was being treated for her illness, she felt relieved that she was finally going to be with her girl, but at the same time, the awful feeling that being in a hospital brought her settled in the pit of her stomach.
She knocked on the door of her girlfriend's room and opened it once she heard a light "Come in!", and her smile grew considerably wider once she saw Avett laying on her bed, playing the guitar.
When her sick little girlfriend saw her, she let out a squeaky noise of excitement, and left her guitar on the floor, as she got up to greet her loved Maisie.
They had only been apart for a week because the actress had to take a trip to LA for work, but to the pair it had felt like an eternity. Their relationship had grown incredibly strong in the few months that they had been dating, and they had become inseparable ever since Avett was diagnosed with lung cancer.
The two girls were sharing a kiss when Maisie noticed that Ave was not wearing her breathing tube, so she broke the kiss and looked at her questioningly. Her girlfriend didn't say anything so she asked "Why aren't you wearing your breathing thing?" with a voice full of worry.
Avett only laughed and hugged her, while Maisie felt more and more confused. When they were finally eye to eye, the singer got closer to the actress's ear and whispered "I'm cancer free, love".
