Joan was born in 1412 in Domrèmy France. Her parents were poor peasants farmers. Her mother was a very religious woman. Because her mother was very religious Joan was. She believed in all the saints and God of the Catholic Church. Joan's childhood was very short though. Her home was a very dangerous place because the English and French were fighting again. They were fighting in a war called the Hundred Years War. This War was caused because England wanted to rule France. When she was around 13 years old, Joan believed that God and the Saints were telling her that she should help Prince Charles take back the French throne from English invaders.When Joan asked her local military commander to meet with the Prince he laughed and turned her away.
The following year with the help of 2 of the Commanders soldiers she tried again. At this meeting, Joan told the commander over her vision and have revealed that prince Charles army was in trouble near the town of Orleans. Only days later a messenger came to confirm the news. The Commander was so impressed that he gave Joan a horse and some soldiers to travel with her to meet the Prince. She cut her hair and more boys clothes to continue to look like a boy soldier. When she met the prince he was sure that a poor peasant girl could not beat the powerful English army. But the Priest told the prince that John was loyal and humble. He decided to give her a chance. She got a suit of armour in a white Horse , she lead the Princess army to the town of Orleans, where the French were losing badly.After awhile with here 2 brothers fighting with her they beat the English. Joan was the hero of France. But only a year later she was caught by the English. She was sentenced to jail because they thought she was a witch. Although the prince was mad about Joan's capture she was unable to save her. John was found guilty and sentenced to then sentenced to death she was burned at the stake. She was only 19 years old.
