In 1906 Pierre Curie was tragically killed when crossing the road. Marie was devastated Marie succeeded for  Perrier professor of general physics and became the first female professor in Sorbonne .  During World War I Marie organized a fleet of x-rays to help the doctors find soldiers injuries. She trained doctors and nurses to use the x-rays. She even drove trucks called little Curies  and I thought to have saved 1 million soldiers during the war. Sadly she died at age 66 as result of long-term exposure to radioactivity. Marie and Perrier won 2 Nobel prizes because of their work with radioactivity.
