Marie was born in Warsaw Poland. In the early 20th century life was bad for Polish who didn't agree with the Russian rule.Science school were banned but Marie's parents were teachers so they taught their children from home. When Marie got older she wanted to go to University but university was only open to men. Marie decided to attend an illegal school called the floating university which changed its location regularly to avoid the Russian officials. Marie was saving up to go to especially University Pairs. In the university in Paris she met Pierre Curie physics professor they married in 1895 and went on to become greatest double acts in history of science. They carried on their research they invented the term radioactivity after many years of hard work they isolated the radioactive elements polonium in radium their discoveries and make to make huge difference in researching for cancer.
In 1906 Pierre Curie was tragically killed when crossing the road. Marie was devastated Marie succeeded for Perrier professor of general physics and became the first female professor in Sorbonne . During World War I Marie organized a fleet of x-rays to help the doctors find soldiers injuries. She trained doctors and nurses to use the x-rays. She even drove trucks called little Curies and I thought to have saved 1 million soldiers during the war. Sadly she died at age 66 as result of long-term exposure to radioactivity. Marie and Perrier won 2 Nobel prizes because of their work with radioactivity.
