Sophie Scholl was born in 1921 in south west Germany. Sophie was the fourth of six children. Her father's name was Robert and he was a liberal mayor of a town. Sophie's mother raised her children to have a strong conscience and have firm Christian beliefs. Sophie was a very bright child and did extremely well in school. Things began to change all over Germany as Hitler the leaderNazi later party rose to power. At Sophie's house Robert criticized the Nazis and told his children to stand up for their beliefs. Sophie didn't believe Hitler's policies were fair. She stood by her Jewish friends when people started thinking that they were the cause of Germany's problems. She admired Jewish authorthat had been banned. In 1935 the Nurenberg law was passed that stopped Sophie's Jewish friends from doing normal day-to-day activities and from attending Sophie school.When her older brother Hans was arrested by the Nazis from joining a
more independent youth group Sophie was hurt and furious. When Sophie was in university she got even more mad at the Nazis.Sophie started studying biology and philosophy at the University of Munich. When her boyfriend Fritz fighting in the east told Sophie about terrible concentration camps. Sophie became even angrier when her father was arrested for telling the truth about the Nazis horrible plans in and deeds. Sophie's brother Hans and three friends started an anti Nazi group. Sophie joined immediately wanting to fight the Nazis and stand up for her Jewish friends. The goal of the White Rose group which was the name of this anti-Nazi group was to open other students eyes about the terrible things of the Nazis were doing. When they printed their first leaflet people were shocked that that people have stood up to the Nazis.Soon after the first leaflet was planted more and more came the Nazis were determined to find out who was writing these leaflets . After a while s Nazi supporter caught them writing another leaflet l and hold the Gestapo about the group. Hans Sophie and their friend Christopher was arrested and put on a trial but the trial was a fake.. The judge screamed and yelled at the group but Sophie stood up and said that they were doing the right thing. That made the judge even madder and was they were sentenced to death. On her final meeting with her family she was calm and smiling Hans was executed first then Sophie then their friend Christopher.
