"Mel hurry up we're leaving!" Makiya shouted at her roommate who was taking the longest to do a simple makeup look.

"Just leave already. I didn't even want to go." Melanie rolled her eyes. It was true, she didn't really want to go out today. Mainly because Makiya just sprung it upon her a few hours before they were supposed to go.

"No. You're coming. Now hurry up." Makiya yelled. Melanie just grumbled. She didn't understand why Makiya wanted her to go on a blind double date with her, she didn't even think that was a real thing. It seemed a bit fishy, but the number one rule of girl code is you always support your bestie no matter what, so Melanie reluctantly finished her makeup and went to the front door.

"Oh sis look at you. You're so pretty. Now let's go have some fun."

"I doubt I'll have any fun, you know I don't like dates. And since when do you get nervous to go out with anyone?"

"Because I really like him, and if it's a group thing it will take the pressure off."

"Okay whatever you say." Melanie shrugged and then both girls were out the door and in their way to a movie theater.

As the two girls got closer to their destination Melanie began to become unsettled. Makiya was pretty much silent the whole ride to the car.

"Girl why aren't you singing with me? You're actin weird as hell." Melanie said grabbing Makiya attention.

"Oh um... just nervous."

"You? Nervous about a nigga? Girl please. What is really going on?" Melanie raised her eyebrow at the girl. Makiya cracked. She felt so bad about lying to her best friend; the guilt built up and Makiya just couldn't keep it in anymore.

"So... I told a little, itty bitty lie about where we're going today."

"Okay... well where are we going then?" Melanie tried not to sound too annoyed.

"Well we are still going to the movies, but it's with who, though."

Soon Mel was catching on and she knew this was not a "blind" date.

"Yo, tell me you're cap right now. I know we are not going on a double date with Edwin and Zion." She spoke his name like it was venomous. Makiya just nodded her head.

"Kiya!" Melanie whined. "Why????"

"Look it was just going to be a date with me and Ed, but then Z wanted to tag along and Eddy couldn't say no because Zion has been pretty lonely lately, so I said I'd see if you'd come. The only thing about that was you don't like dates, especially not with him, so I had to lie to get you to come. I'm sorry." Makiya rambled on. Melanie just shook her head.

"I hope you know you owe me for this. And if he catches feelings I'm beating up you and Edwin." Mel said looking straight ahead.

"Noted." Makiya sounded a bit scared. But there was no turning back now they had already made it to the movie theater.

Inside Edwin and Zion stood on the wall with snacks in hand waiting for the two girls to show.

"She's not gonna come." Zion shook his head. "I should just go home. She wouldn't like this. And you are real grimy for making me think we were going by ourselves."

"Would you just chill out Z. They're here." Edwin grabbed the boy's attention and turned it to the front entrance where the two girls were entering. Zion couldn't help but look Mel up and down. She looked really good as usual and she had her hair done different from before.

"Hey Mel." Zion smiled.

"Hey Z." Melanie clearly showed no interest in wanting to be there.

"Hey I'm sorry that shit happened this way. I thought that it was just going to be me and Ed hanging out."

"Don't lie Zion, I already know the story." Mel was very annoyed at this point there were too many people lying to her today.

"What are you talking about? I'm not lying." Zion shook his head.

Mel was confused, but then she realized what was going on. "Oh I see. They played us. They told us two different stories, like we're on a damn sitcom. Thought we wouldn't figure it out."

Zion nodded his head realizing that was exactly what was happening. "I'm sorry Ma. I can take you home if you don't wanna stay."

Melanie thought about it for a second. "Nah you don't have to do that, let's just make the most out of the situation. I mean hey I get to see a free movie." That was the first time today Melanie had smiled and it put Zion at ease.

"Yeah you do. It cost me $40 for all this shit."

"Aww what a gentleman." Mel teased.

"Y'all ready? The movie is about to start." Edwin told the two as he and Kiya walked into the theater. Melanie and Zion quickly followed suit.
