Lord of the west's mate? Really?

Part 5

Sesshomaru's pov.

I was fighting my inner beast between staying here with my mate who was holding the panicked child or head out and deal with the woman who gave birth to my mate for the damage she was trying to deal. I was about to get up to leave but a hand on my arm stops me, I glance at Hoshi who shakes her head slightly. I stayed put but I listen to what was going on, it was clear to me that Hoshi was trying to tune it out which pained me greatly. "It's alright little one.  Nothing will happen to you or any of us. I promise you that." Hoshi says in a soft soothing tone as she gently plays with Rin's hair. I glance at Jaken who was shockingly glaring at the door mumbling under his breath about hurting his lord and lady, the mark clear on Hoshi's neck must have changed his mind about her. "Rin listen to Lady Hoshi, she is the lady of the land and what she says is now law." I say making it clear to her that Hoshi has all the power here and this makes the little girl look up into my mates eyes causing her tears to stop almost as quickly as they started looking in aw of the words I just spoke. "Really is that true Lady Hoshi?" Rin asks causing my mate to give a small little laugh warming my heart, the sound of it relaxing us all.

"Really little one. All those who dared to hurt you will be sent away. My brothers will more than likely play with you and keep you safe just as if you were one of the family because it will keep you happy." Hoshi says and she gently pokes Rin's noise making said girl giggle. My inner beast screams at me to take this woman, make her ours right this moment and soon have her round with our heir, our children. I have to calm it, remind it that soon we would have what we both wanted but we would soon have it once she was ready. Hoshi looks over at me and I notice a flash of something in her eyes I hadn't seen before my marking her, it was almost as if she was discovering a part of herself that she herself didn't even know. Rin was now calm and had slipped off Hoshi's lap and onto the bed to play with the dolls once again but I noticed that she still stayed close to my mate for protection. The sound of fighting and arguing outside had died down, perhaps that woman was finally dead or better yet she was gone and we could all have some peace and quiet. I lose track of the time as I watch my mate who would glance over at me from under her lashes this look on her face that I couldn't quite place the emotion behind it, my own mother never showed me much emotion as I grew especially after the news of my half breed brother being born.

I did intend to talk to Hoshi and how she could stand the fact that she dotted on those half breed brothers of hers or how she could be alright with her father having been true mates with a mortal, it all confused me to no end not that I disagreed with her thoughts or actions. A knock on the door draws all our attention and I noticed Jaken point his staff at it as if to protect us. "Hoshi nee-chan father said dinner is ready." One of her brothers yells making us all relax a little. "Come little one it is time to eat. No need to fear my mother she should not be there." Hoshi says as she stands and offers her hand to the little girl I brought here with me. Rin happily takes the offered hand and we leave the room, her brother hadn't waited for us, part of me thinks it was because he hadn't wanted to scare the little girl with us. The walk to the dinning hall was quiet, I hove close to my mate just in case I needed to protect her from danger. My inner beast was becoming even more protective of her despite my mark on her neck. When we walked into the dinning hall it was pleasant, there was human food on the table between Hoshi's seat and my own. Dinner was a quiet affair, her brothers congratulated us on our marriage and looked genuinely happy at the sight.

"Sesshomaru my friend we set up a room for the young one near Hoshi's. Her mother and all others who pose a danger are no longer on this land." My friend and now father in law says with a soft smile as he looks over at his daughter then over at myself. "Jaken shall stay with her for now. It would put us at ease." I say as I glance at Hoshi seeing a light blush on her cheeks and she wouldn't meet my eyes. "It would help me worry a little less. Thank you father. On another note I do have a few questions to ask you a little later." Hoshi says as she looks at her father a worried and confused look on her face making me wonder just what it was that was worrying her, my inner beast screaming at me to put that worry to ease. Her father now looked worried and part of me knew that e would stop at nothing to help his daughter who was his favorite child. "We can talk on the marrow for now enjoy the night of your wedding." He says and she nods her head a small smile on her face and the blush growing darker, clearly she was embarrassed by the meaning of her fathers words. Once we were done eating one of Hoshi's brothers shows us Rin's room before he kneels down to be face to face with Rin. "Little one that room over there is Hoshi nee-Chan's room and this room right over here is mine. Do not be afraid to come to me if something scares you or you do not want to be alone and I will protect you." He says as he points out the rooms and he gently pats the top of her head. Rin looks up at me for instructions, so was Jaken who would listen to my every order.
