Chapter 1

Annabeth

I wake with a start. I hear knocking on my cabin door so I stand up and open it. It's Percy, I smile at him and say "Good morning, Seaweed Brain" he replies "Back at cha, Wise Girl!" This is my Percy, he always knows how to make me smile and for that I love him so much. I walk into the bathroom and put my makeup on and get dressed, I walk outside and see Percy waiting for me. "You ready to go?" He asks me "Um... Where are we going?" "On a breakfast picnic, doofus" he chuckles. I roll my eyes and take his hand "That would be lovely"

We walk to Zeus' Fist and sit down, Percy opens up his basket and takes out: Toast and Nutella, apples, chocolate milk, and cereal. We separate it evenly and start eating. Percy downs his in about five minutes, as usual. "How have you been?" I ask this because it's only been a month since fighting Gaea, and that has taking an emotional toll on all of us. "I think I'm getting better..." I know he's lying "You?" "I'm not going to lie, so no I'm not feeling any better." He took my hand and kissed it, and did I forget to mention almost dying in Tartarus? Yeah well that happened to. "My dad called me last night..." I fought back tears "He told me that he hated me and that my stepmother was right all along. That I should just die because of all the pain I've caused him." A tear slips from my face "I thought he loved me" I say shakily. "Annabeth... I don't know why he told you that. You are perfect and amazing just the way you are. He needs to go to hell, that is what needs to happen. He doesn't deserve you, and you probably still love him. Of course you do, he's your father! But what I'm saying is, he is having a really bad week, and he still loves you to death." He hugged me tightly and didn't let me go for a long time. Was what he said true? I'm gonna have to believe Percy. He's probably right. "I'm sorry..." "For what??" He asks "for laying this on you on our picnic" I say quietly "don't be ridiculous Annabeth, I would've figured out sooner or later"

And with that we packed up and went to the beach.
