I could feel my entire body collapse in on itself as I heard that incredibly familiar voice only way deeper.
"J-Jungkook..?"
He looked so different.
We both stood there in silence for a second until he pulled me into his arms and gave the biggest hug he's ever given.
"Oh my god Y/N...I thought you were gone forever."
He had the same scent as I remembered.
He was so warm and comfortable, I felt so at home all of the sudden.
"I missed you so much"
Suddenly a woman's voice could be heard from behind me, and Jungkook suddenly let go of me.
"Who's this bitch?"
Oh. This can't be good.
"She isn't a bitch Jaeeun. She's a childhood friend."
For the first time ever, Jungkook called me a friend. It felt kind of weird but I liked it way more than sister.
"OH MY GOD JUNGKOOK IS THIS YOUR EX STEP SISTER YOU TALK ABOUT ALL OF THE TIME??? LIKE, THE ONE YOU--"
Jungkook quickly covered Jaeeun's mouth.
"I'm assuming this is....?"
Jungkook lauhed nervously.
"Oh, this is Jaeeun, one of my co-workers."
"ahem...and friends"
Jaeeun looked annoyed.
"We hang out sometimes, she's supposed to be helping me bring these flyers down to the convenience store, and then after that I'm performing in the city."
"Yeah! Jungkook's gonna blow everyone away with his amazing singing skills."
I looked at him in confusion.
"You sing?"
"Oh wow you didn't even know someone you spent most of your life with can sing? How disappointing."
I didn't really like this girl, she seemed like a complete jerk.
"Calm down Jaeeun, I never really sung around people. But yes, I sing, and I've been getting city gigs for a bit now."
"Oh my god...Jungkook that's- that's great!!"
I hugged him tightly.
"Yeah. You're welcome to come watch if you want!! I actually planned on letting Jaeeun take care of the rest of these papers so I could go get lunch. If you want you can come with me. It's nice to finally see you again and we could talk about life, yknow?"
I smiled widely.
"Yes! Of course! I was just heading out for that!"
Jungkook patted my head and then wrapped his arm around my shoulder, looking over at jaeeun, signaling her to get back to work, she scoffed, and stomped off with the papers in her hands.
For some reason i couldn't completely understand how this happened. Meeting Jungkook being in that building....
...it just didn't completely process in my head. It has been so long since I had seen him and it was almost like I was being blessed with the most precious gift I could ever receive."So....what were you doing in the building anyway?"
I asked, idling in the lobby of the apartment building.
"Oh, I was grabbing the flyers from my apartment."
I think at that point i simultaneously started squealing because Jungkook asked if I was okay.
"Uhm..yeah...i just- I live here too that's all."
Jungkook gave me a crooked smile and suddenly pinched both of my cheeks.
"Well looks like you're gonna be stuck with me again."
I laughed nervously.
"So what have you been up to for the past...oh god what's it been...four years?"
Jungkook rubbed the back of his head as if he had felt bad for not asking that sooner.
"Well, finished up school, made some good friends, got my own place, and funny enough, yoongi proposed-"
Jungkook's crooked smile faded quickly.
"What's wrong?"
Jungkook looked towards the ground and paused for a moment before quickly changing the subject.
"I know some good restaurants around here, wanna start walking?"
"Oh- uh, yeah sure"
Something told me that he was jealous. I don't know why or how. I try to forget about what happened between us but it's really hard because...
Jungkook suddenly stopped walking.
"Okay look. Y/N. I'm sorry. Really sorry for leaving you I just..."
"Jungkook, it's okay, I promise. I'm over it. I'm just glad I can see you again. I missed you but, I wasn't mad at you. I wasn't worried about you. I-"
Jungkook looked hurt.
"That's not what I meant- I just..I got over you that's all!! I'm sure you did the same thing, you know?"
Nothing in his expression changed. The silence was killing me. Only passing cars and sounds of the city could be heard.
I got over Jungkook long time ago, right?
Jungkook suddenly shook his head and his bright bunny smile returned.
"Look! Over there's a good restaurant!!"
He quickly dragged me across the street from where we were standing.
"What is this place?"
"Wine Connection Korea. They have good Italian food."
He peaked my interest quickly. He remembers that I love Italian..?
"Oh- it looks lovely.."
About 20 minutes in, our meals were already out and we had already discussed most of what had been going on in our lives. Jungkook had been kicked out of his dad's not long after moving, and he moved in with Jaeeun for a bit before getting his own apartment. Apparently him and Jaeeun had dated a while ago but he ended it for private reasons. It left her heartbroken for a bit but she moved on and now she's dating one of her close friends at the college. He doesn't know his name but apparently he's really attractive.
"So uh..did you accept his proposal..?"
I looked up at Jungkook.
"Yes, I did, but I know me and him are never going to see each other again, I mainly said yes because, well, private reasons."
I really didn't want to talk about Yoongi...or anyone for that matter.
Jungkook suddenly made a devious smirk.
"So would you say you're single right now?"
