"everything's going to be alright." I whispered to my 6 year old self as I hugged my knees against my chest as I heard the sounds of my father yelling.

"God dammit Jack! You can't keep drinking, you have 3 sons and a daughter! Do you want them to follow in your footsteps?!" My mum yelled, then something or someone fell.

Then Jake rushed in here, hugging me as tears ran down my face.

"Baby, it's okay.. I won't hurt you like him; I won't let any boy do that to you." Jake whispered as footsteps were heard.

"Jake! Where the hell are you?!", my drunken father said, barging in here.

"What are you doing?" He said, almost falling over.

"Something you've never done, I'm protecting her." Jake said as my father looked at him, and raised his hand to hit him.

Jake fell on his side, as tears rolled down his face, I hugged him, with every ounce of strength I had.

"I'm sorry.. It's my fault you got hurt.." I said as my father left the room, than the house.

And that's what I thought to myself ever since that night.
