After a while of working on our project we were called up for dinner.
"We should be out there right now.We should be helping look for him." Mike said
Mike wasn't eating his food because he was so worried about Will. I was too but I was hungry so I ate anyway
"We've been over this. The chiefsaid -- " Mrs Wheeler started
"I don't care what the chief said!" Mike cut her off
"Michael !" She said
"He's not even real police, Mom. Wehave to do something -- Will couldbe in danger!" Mike exclaimed
"He's right" I said
"More reason to stay put." She said
"Mom!" Mike yelled
"End of discussion." she told him
Mike looked away, upset. "You know. We know Will better than anyone. So we might just be the ones to know where he'll go" I said
Mike smiled at me and Mrs Wheeler said "I don't want you kids getting hurt"
It got quiet and now us kids where pretty much just playing with our food.
"So... me and Barb... we're gonnastudy for the chemistry test at herhouse tonight. That's cool, right?" Nancy asked
"No. Not cool." Mrs Wheeler snapped
"What? Why not?" Nancy asked
"Why do you think? Am I speakingChinese in this house? Until weknow Will's okay, no one leaves." She said
"So we're under house arrest?" Nancy said
"Don't be dramatic, Nancy." Mrs Wheeler said
"This is such bullshit!" Nancy said raising her voice
"Language!" Mr Wheeler yelled
"Barb lives two minutes away, justbecause Mike's friend got lost onhis way home --" Nancy said
"This is Will's fault -- ?!" Mike shouted
"Nancy, take that back --" Mrs Wheeler said
"No!" Nancy shouted
"You're just pissed because youwanna hang out with Steve" Mike snapped at her
"Steve?" Mr Wheeler asked
"Who is Steve?" Mrs Wheeler asked louder
"My older brother" I said
"Her new boyfriend" Mike said to Nancy
"YOU'RE SUCH A DOUCHE MIKE!" Nancy yelled
"LANGUAGE!!!" Mr Wheeler yelled at her
Nancy shoved out of her chair and stormed off
"Nancy! Come back! NANCY!" Mrs Wheeler yelled
"See, Michael: This is what happens." Mr Wheeler said
"What happens when what? Y/n and I are the only ones acting normal here -- We're the only ones who care about Will!" Mike yelled
Mr Wheeler took a bite out of a chicken drum. "That's not fair, Michael. We care."
Mike gets up from the table and runs to the basement. I got up and ran after him. I heard Mrs Wheeler say "I hope you're enjoying yourchicken, Ted."
"I can't believe them!" Mike yelled
"I know I know, but we just have to stay calm"
"How can we stay calm Will is missing!" Mike yelled
"Hey, hey look at me. It's gonna be okay I promise we will find him." I said "How about we go find him ourselves"
Mike looked at me and then we heard a static sound coming from his walkie. We run to the couch and we hear "Hey, it's Lucas."
"I know it's you. And say "over"when you're done talking or I don'tknow you're done. Over." Mike said I laughed a little
"I'm done. Over." We heard Lucas say
"I'm worried about Will. Over." Mike said
"Yeah. This is crazy. Over." Lucas said
"I was thinking... Will could'vecast Protection last night. But hedidn't. He cast Fireball. Over." Mike said
"What's your point? Over." Lucas asked
"My point is... he could've playedit safe. But he didn't. He puthimself in danger to help theparty. Over." Mike said. We didn't hear anything come from Lucas and Mike looked at me.
"Meet me in ten. Over and out." Lucas said
Mike and I grabbed our jackets and then ran outside to his bike. I looked at the sky and said "Looks like it's gonna rain"
"Do you have a hood?" Mike asked
"Yes" I replied
"Then you'll be fine" Mike said and I nodded
We brought the bike to the street and looked over to Nancy's window. Oh great Steve. He gave us a slight wave. I shook my head and I got onto Mike's bike. "Jerk" I mumbled. We started riding until we met Lucas and Dustin.
We drop the bikes to the side of the road.
A plop of water hits Dustin in the face. "Oh man. You guys feel that?" he said "Maybe we should go back."
Mike gives his walkie to Dustin "No splitting up or anything stupidlike that, but stay on channel six.Just in case." Mike said
We all head into the woods and Dustin is behind "Hey, guys, wait up! WAIT UP!" Dustin calls from behind us and runs to where we are. After a while it started pouring rain.
"Will? WILL???" Mike yelled
"BYERS?!" I yelled
We keep walking further into the woods while flashes of lightning and roars of thunder started in the sky.
"Guys, I really think we should turnback" Dustin said out of breath
"Seriously, Dustin, if you want tobe a baby, just go home already." Lucas
"I'm just being realistic, Lucas" Dustin said
"No, you're being a sissy" I said
"You ever think Will went missingbecause, you know, he ran intosomeone bad? And now we're going tothe place where he was last seen,and we don't even have weapons oranything" Dustin said
"Dustin shut up" Mike said
"I'm just sayin', does that seemsmart to you?!" Dustin said
"Shut up!" I yelled at him
Dustin stops talking and Mike stopped walking (ahah)
"What's wrong?" I asked
"You guys hear that?" he said quietly
A rustling noise comes from behind us. We all turn around and shine our flashlights around. The rustling sound comes from near us again but it was louder. We turn again and I grabbed Mike's wrist.
It comes from behind us again and we turn around. We shine our flashlights to reveal a girl with a shaved head. She had a yellow shirt on. She looked at us and we stared back at her. Who was she?
