About a four months ago, My mom had left my dad when she figured out that he was cheating on her. With a guy.
That night, I could hear the fight from my room. I was lying in bed hoping that this wasn't actually happening, but I knew it was real when I heard the sound of my mom yelling at my dad to leave, and to never come back, then the sound of a door opening then slamming closed.

Three months later all the legal stuff was taken care of. My mom had gotten a job in Australia and we were leaving as soon as possible. That meant packing up all our clothes and leaving behind anything we didn't need, then hopping on a plane hoping for the best in Australia.

We had arrived at the airport, and a few hours later we had gotten through security. Our flight was delayed a few hours, as if New York was begging me to stay. I decided to take a nap before we left for Australia, before my life totally changed.

I woke up to the sound of the lady announcing our flight over the PA system. I rubbed my eyes and stood up, grabbing my stuff an helping my mom out with her suitcases. We walked over to the place where they check your passport and ticket.
"Michael Clifford?" The lady at the desk asked. Instead of replying, I just nod and started boarding the plane.

I got the window seat, and as the plane took off, I looked out the window over New York. This was the town I had always lived in, and now I was leaving.

It was surreal in a way. I never really had very many friends, I only had a few good ones that had stuck with me through the years and two girlfriends that didn't last long, that was pretty much it. It could of been worse I guess, I could of had a girlfriend that I needed to break up with, or lots of friends that I would have to say goodbye to.
I put in my earbuds which started playing slow, sad music. Singing along in my head, I slowly drifted off to sleep and the next thing I know I'm waking up in Australia.
