It was almost dead silent. Other than a slight breeze, it almost seemed deserted. This was not helping.
Kim had been walking around the garden, searching carefully and listening hard for Edward; just hearing a slight snip would've been enough. Oh, how she longed to see him.
After observing everything outside, she finally tried something else.
Kim approached the scary, and yet still somehow beautiful, castle. Looking for just something to move, anything. It was amazing how she'd been gone for years and it all still looked the same since that night she had come up, somehow. Because he kept it that way.
Although she's tried hiding it, Kim was terrified. But why was her question. What was making her this scared? She knew what to expect from here. And there wasn't necessarily anything that could just... jump out! What else would there be? She couldn't possibly be scared of-.... And just like that, her guilt rose again.
'How can I be thinking that?', she thought, 'He is not a monster! I love him! I'd NEVER think of him hurting me, or anybody else for that matter! ... But others had thought he would .... and he was almost killed for it.', she heaved a sigh.
She still held a streak of anger for those people, and at least half of them were her neighbors. Edward did nothing to hurt them, what caused them such a fuss she still didn't know.
She then approached the side of the castle, and looked up to see where a large window had been shattered. Her eyes widened, then they trailed back to the ground where, just a little ways from her feet, along with broken shards of the window, she saw a long, single blade hidden amongst it. It was now rusted, she noticed reminiscence of dry blood had faded in it when she got closer.
This was the spot Jim was killed.Kim balled her fists and gritted her teeth, it had been almost all his fault. Jim was crazy, obsessive, and evil. He had taken advantage of sweet, innocent Edward and later tried to kill him himself. Then when he had pushed her, Edward had killed him in the end. Although she knew Edward was only trying to protect her, and Jim was a jealous psycho, she did feel a slight pity for him at one point. But, of course, that was only humanity, he was still a being no matter what. It didn't change how she still felt about him though, she did not love him, and she never will, not anymore.
After a few moments of deep breaths, she finally calmed herself. She could not think of Jim right now. He was just a painful past. She had to keep her focus.
The sun had almost completely set, just a few rays were shown now. More and more stars began to shine in the distance, it was a lovely spring night.
Although winter was the main time when Edward came to Kim's mind, spring could almost match. Because this was around the time her mother first found him, and though her mother did explain details of when she visited here, she never pictured that it would have been this vibrant. More lovely than she had ever thought.
Kim felt more calm then when she arrived now. The garden was comforting. She took to it a little more for just a moment. Passing every flower, she was tempted to bend down and smell them. Even though she didn't want to stall, she thought it would be fine for now, smelling flowers was relaxing, and she wanted to keep herself calm before looking for Edward again.
And so, she stopped for every patch of flowers she saw, inhaling their pollen, stroking each petal, even picking one or two for decoration in her strawberry blonde hair. With a satisfied smile on her face, Kim laid on the ground, surrounded in flower beds and bushes.
This brought back so many memories, of days when she played outside in the grass, young and innocent. When life hadn't weighed on her shoulders as much, and she could spend hours on flower crowns.
Now, she loved her husband and daughter, she wouldn't dare leave them behind. But she had so many conflicts with them. It was usually once, sometimes twice a week that she or her husband would start a fight, and it only put strain on her, him, and their daughter. She wished she couldn't do that to them, but she just felt so upset by things lately. She didn't know how to keep herself together these days.
But right now, lying in the grass, flowers in her hair, the smell of spring in the air, back at her other beloveds home; she felt all those worries become distant as she lived in this moment; she felt content, she felt happy.
Then, a little ways from her, she heard a slight snip.
Kim's eyes snapped open with shock. She stiffened completely. 'Could that be...no...could it?'
A few more snips were heard. It was him. Edward. There was no doubt.
Did she dare look up?
Kim was frozen in place. He was out here. Her heart rate increased. It was Edward. After so many years, it was actually him! Even though her nerves were now present again, they were overshadowed by pure joy. The corners of her mouth lifted.
She slowly sat up and peered over the bushes, she could practically feel her pupils widening. Low and behold, there was Edward Scissorhands.
