3rd POV
Five hours earlier that day, Mr. Cane rushed his wife Lauren to the Satellite Teaching Hospital. It was raining heavily that afternoon and he arrived at the hospital entrance soaking wet. This was a very eventful day for him.He had just made partner in his law firm earlier that day. His day was over and he was overwhelmed with excitement on his way home, when Lauren his wife called and told him her water broke.
~Phone Call
Lauren: Sean!!!! You son of a bitch!!! You did this to me. You ruin my LIFE!!!! (Crying hysterically)
Sean: Honey calm down, think about the baby. Try your breathing exercises . Breathe In!!!!! and Out!!!
Lauren: if you don't get your NARROW ASS!!! Here. My water broke!!! The baby is coming!!!
Sean stepped on the accelerator upon hearing Lauren water broke. He was going 90 miles in a 65miles zone. He was about to meet his first born and didn't care about the heavy rain fall or being pulled over by the cops.He run a couple of red lights. Luckily, he arrived home safely to a pissed off wife.
Now, Sean is a 31 years old lawyer who works in his father's law firm. Before he could even crawl, his future was already determined by Sean Cane Sr. His father had laid out the blue print for his life. He was going to go to law school like his older sister Yasmin, and start working in the family law firm. The firm was started by his Grand father ,who passed it down to his father and Uncle.
Lauren just turned 25 years, her father was Governor of Satellite City. Both her father and Sean's served in the Army. They were good friends who were boarder line family. Their friendship was so close that they vowed to become family, by marrying their offsprings. Unfortunately, both their first borns were girls. Hence, when Sean Jr.was born and Lauren 6 years after him, the two fathers vowed to marry them. Sean has known Lauren literary since diapers.
Growing up, Lauren adored Sean like a big brother. She followed him everywhere. He always thought she was adorable 😍 and often took her to the park to play.It wasn't until Lauren went off to High School and grew into her womanly body did their relationship change. Lauren indeed grew into a beautiful woman, taking after her own mother who was a model and an actress in her youth. Lauren was the prettiest girl on campus, but had a tongue as sharp as a blade. She was blunt and refused to play second fiddle. She graduated top of her class and played volleyball. Lauren was definitely that girl all the boys wanted and all the girls wished they were.
The topic of their marriage was discussed every holiday when Sean and Lauren's family gathered. The parents agreed to have them engaged when Lauren graduated from High school. Both of them did not share the same sentiments. Although, Sean knew he was to marry Lauren he had a serious girlfriend in college. For once in his life he was set to disobey his father and marry the woman of his dreams. His father caught wind of the girl his son was dating. He met up with her and preposition her with money to leave Sean. At first, the girl refused because of the love she had for Sean, but Sean Sr. Offered to pay off her family's debt, pay for her younger siblings tuition and got her a scholarship to France to study in one of the best culinary school. Coming from her poor background she felt this was not an offer she could refuse. Sean Sr. made her break up with his son by letter and that was the last time Sean Jr. saw the love of his life (at least he thought she was...she left him for money). Sean was never the same since then and decided to dedicate his life to his studies.
Lauren on the other hand met a guy who was in college during her senior year in High School. She met him while touring Colleges to decide on which University suits her best. She ended up falling head over hills for a college sophomore she met on the tour.Hence, she made plans to attend that University solely based on a boy. Since, her father was a general in the Army and now a governor she was raised in a strict household. She was not allowed to have a boyfriend in high school (...but this was her chauvinist father's way of keeping her "Pure" for marriage). The romance between Lauren and this college sophomore blossomed during the summer leading to the upcoming school year. She lied to her parents that she was taking a summer class on campus but ended up taking road trips with this guy.
She should have known better to be roaming the town, in which her father had eyes in every corner. The governor private security had reported to him about his daughter's escapades for weeks and her father knew he had to get rid of this boy. The college sophomore had a part time job at a fancy bistro Downtown. He clocked into work one day, only to be told he was fired. He wasn't given any valid explanation about his termination except that his services was no longer required. He went back to his apartment only to find out he was evicted even though he paid his rent on time. It was that moment when he had no where to go and broken did he notice a white Mercedes with tinted windows pull up to his driveway. He was shocked when he saw the governor and his bodyguards.
Governor: Are you Edward, sophomore studying economics at Satellite University?
College student: (eye bulging and shocked 😳 at the sight of the governor)... Y ..yess Sir, thatttss me.
Governor: I am Lauren's father and you need to end whatever it is you have with her.
College Student: ..... 😳😳(still in a daze).
